1. Battle of Karbal happened in 17 century. It was a short-term military operation in which a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad was conquered and murdered.

Battle of Karbala, oil on canvas by Abbas Al-Musavi, Qajar period. It is about war between Sunnis and Shias. This painting was painted in 680AD, in present day Iraq.
This painting is exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum.
Battle of Karbala underlines the importance of the sacred figures of Shiism.
The events of Karbala for many people replicate the fight of the good with the wicked, the righteous versus the good. It shows the, and the fight between Imam Husayn (good side) versus Yazid (evil side).
Imam Husayn was a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. His mission was to protect Islam. Imam Husayn was fighting for the Muslims. Historically, the ruling power of the monarchs: Mu'awiya and his son Yazid was grounded only on the force. They were tyrants who kept their people in tense by a force power.
Imam Husayn was a ruler of Ahlul Bayt and refused to worship Mu'awiya. Historically, long time before Bayt Imam Ali had struggled to defeat Mu'awiya because Mu'awiya repeatedly dishonored the Islamic values.

The next painting is a part of Bayeux Tapestry. The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered fabric material nearly 70 meters (230 ft.) long and 50 centimeters (20 in) tall, which portrays the happenings before the Norman conquest of England. It is also connected historically with William, Duke of Normandy and ending with the Battle of Hastings.
The Bayeux tapestry is one of the ultimate accomplishments of the Norman Romanesque style. It is more than 9 centuries old.

Bayeux Tapestry that shows William the Conqueror fighting his own soldiers.
The Battle of Hastings section of the Bayeux Tapestry shows King Harold being hit in the eye by an arrow. For some period the person on the picture was considered to be one of his bodyguards but now historians think it was Harold himself.
2.
I will try to explain that there was a term “An Art of War” in those times. War was considered a noble deed at times as it was aimed to return lands and power that had belonged originally to the Government, Ruler or Monarchy. Embroideries were very common in the times of the ruler William and if we look at the colors and the size of this specific tapestry, we can draw a conclusion that its size and colors says that it was significant in the history of Medieval England.
Citizens of the certain Country went to Wars because they wanted to protect not only their lands or financial stability but also their religion, name or rank.
Battle of Karbala depicts fight as well but you should not be scared or disturbed by this painting. People fight and sometimes people and nations fight because of the religion. People want to go to church and they think that only their religion or confession is more important. For Muslims this painting is very significant, with respect to their culture and history because it historically shows how one religion can be divided into the subdivisions and how people can fight between each other in regards to a noble goal. We cannot be judgmental in this matter but we can be aware of some things that happen in this world. Some people were scared and baffled at those times too. This is one of the reasons they created this piece of Art. They wanted to freeze their feelings and even now we can look at the painting and feel the fear and confusion the artist had felt.

No, it’s not, he hollered. It’s not funny. My life has been crushing down and no one cares. What part here is funny?

None, I agree. Your wife leaves you but it’s not the end of the world.

No, you do not get it. IT is the end of the world for me. The end of my personal world, a disaster. I cannot imagine my life without her.

Well, you have lived without her before, have you?

I have. But it is different. I was different. Now, I am completely lost.

Stop it. We won’t let you to be lost. You have friends.

a nose 03-11-2016 02:29

I think that Loreta from Italy who I work with has a real Roman nose or Greek profile as we say in Russia. It has this shape, the shape of the Greek’s nose described in one history book I read a long time ago.

I have  always wanted to have a small nose because folks in my family had long noses. And in Russia we have a saying Someone tore off a Curious Varvara’s nose on the market.

Nose can get people into trouble is what I learnt in a childhood. My teacher in kindergarten once said that if I would be too curious or not minding my own business my nose will grow to extreme sizes. I have started checking my nose in  a mirror since then.

is great Sphynx a work of Art? 25-10-2016 17:56

In my opinion, the Great Sphinx is a work of art. Art is the manifestation or presentation of human creative ability and imagination; can take different forms and shapes. Sphinx is a visual form, we can call it sculpture. It helps to experience emotions, it has an emotional power. I believe it had been built as a religious temple first. It is a massive structure. The figure of the Great Sphinx was carved from a huge boulder. It is 240X65.5 ft; 73.5X20m) It is a grouped structure of the body of a horizontal lion with the pharaoh’s head. It suffered some acts of vandalism but did not lose its beauty. In my humble opinion, Art is something that had been created by human being and causes feelings, thoughts and actions. It can be material or non-material as music, ballet and it usually involves some skill or imagination or mind power.
