After her recent postponement of a summer return, Ivy has officially stated she will comeback in September.

The reason for her delay:she is starring in a musical called “Kiss Me Kate.”

The gold medalist figure skater is scandal free!

Korean’s skating sweetheart is setting the record straight! Recently,Yu-na denied all rumors of celebrity romances that have been circulated. The talented young lady has been linked to swimmer Park Tae-hwan, Super Junior’s Lee Teuk,and actor Jang Guen-suk. She confirmed, “I have never even been introduced to them”. Yu-na has never had any connection with the guys,so please leave her alone. Fans should admire her for her talented skating ability, not try to tarnish her name with senseless rumors. Way to go Yu-na for representing good girls!

The World Cup 2010 kicks off today and almost all your favorite bands are getting in on the excitement. Which song do you think best inspires and captures the excitement of the World Cup for soccer fans in Korea and around the globe?

The biggest coup for the Korea pop world is 2AM being selected to be in the official FIFA album called “Listen Up” with a tune called “No. 1”. I bet the Red Devils were pretty excited to be represented by them! Take a look at the video below. Do you think they did well? We at POPSEOUL! think that it’s a great inspirational tune for the games and are glad that they didn’t go for any kind of powerhouse, fist-pumping stadium rocker. It even has somewhat broad appeal for international fans who don’t know much about kpop. Good for you, boys!

On the flip side, Super Junior goes straight for Korean nationalist pride with “Victory Korea”, with the chant-along chorus “K.O.R.E.A. daehan minguk fighting!” Unlike the softer and more feel-good 2AM song, this one gets Korean soccer fan’ blood pumping and ready to cheer on the Red Devils. The song retains the trademark Suju electronic dance vibe and they even throw in some ‘Sorry, Sorry” dance moves in the MV. We think that it’s going to sound pretty great blasting over the speakers at game viewing parties, bars and pubs during the games in Korea!

Next is the banned song by Kara called “We’re With You”, which has a light bubblegum feel which may bring some broader appeal to the games from female fans of Kara, but we can’t really see this song doing much for soccer fans in general in Korea. There isn’t even much to say about KBS’ decision to ban the song; it’s just another senseless banning in a series of bans that make no sense (Hyori’s MV for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Rain’s MV for Love Song, etc). We think that it’s not really Kara’s best effort and that we won’t be hearing much about it anytime soon because of the ban. Better luck next time, girls!

Finally, the big hit collaboration “Once More, Korea!”, featuring 4Minute and Brown Eyed Girls, uses the addictive and energetic melody and dancehouse beats of old 80′s electronica Pet Shop Boys’ version of “Go West” to inspire the Red Devils and their fans during the games. The macho electric guitar and the girls’ tough rockstar-style singing are sure to appeal to soccer fans in Korea.
