WHO'S RONALDO'S NO1 WOMAN?
CRISTIANO Ronaldo’s mum has opened her heart about their relationship and told how she is the woman behind his amazing success.
The football ace, who was unveiled by Real Madrid last night in front of 80,000 fans, always turns to mother Dolores Aveiro for advice.
And as we revealed recently, he even lashed out at a teenage fan who upset her by filming the family.
Dolores is thrilled that her son, 24, has made the £80million move to Real from Manchester United.
Talking exclusively to the Daily Star, she said: “Everything in his world is sunshine. I am so happy and proud. He’s delighted to be playing for Real Madrid and having lots of fun.”
And it is Dolores he turns to when it comes to romantic advice.
She even gave her approval for her son to let his hair down this summer with a bevy of beauties, including heiress Paris Hilton, 28.
Dolores said: “I encourage him to go out and meet different girls while he is young and single.
He’s got to enjoy himself.
But he is not a playboy, despite his image.
“He has only had two girls and Paris is just a friend.
He phoned me to say he had met her.
“But she is not his girlfriend.
If they were having a romance I’d be the first to know about it.
He tells me everything.”
Dolores, 56, has not stopped smiling since Ronaldo’s megabucks move to Madrid was announced.
A close family friend said: “She is extremely happy.
She has always loved Real Madrid and believes it is the best team in the world.
“She said she wouldn’t die until her son had played for Real Madrid.
Cristiano always knew his mother’s wish.
He has been desperate for so long to fulfil this dream for her too.
“She knew he would do it.
Dolores is so excited about his transfer.
She already imagines herself spending time in Madrid.
This dream was for both of them.
Dolores has always supported her youngest son and spent a lot of time away with him while he was playing in England.
But Madrid is nearer to home and she believes its team has the best footballers.”
Born in 1985 on Madeira, Ronaldo is the youngest child of Dolores and has an elder brother and two big sisters.
By the age of eight he was playing for local team Andorinha where his dad Jose – who died of kidney problems in 2005, aged 52 – was the kitman.
Dolores encouraged her son to pursue his football dream and soon he was playing for various teams in Portugal.
She supported his move to Britain after he was spotted by United and spent time with him in the UK to make sure he was not lonely.
The ex-hotel chef also used to insist her once skinny son ate two bowls of soup before meals to beef himself up.
His favourite food is her speciality Bacalhau a Bras, a salty Portuguese dish made from cod, and he loves her home-made pasta.
He has thanked his mum by buying her a £1m mansion on Madeira and a new Mercedes CLK.
The friend told how Dolores remains a huge influence on her son’s life.
She said: “She is a very wise woman with a strong personality.
Mother and son talk every day and every decision is made by both of them.
“She is like the glue that keeps the family bonded.
She’s even made sure that there’s no jealousy towards Cristiano from his brothers and sisters.
“The whole family is very proud of him and wish him the all the best.
He had a very humble upbringing and she went through a lot of difficulties to help her son achieve what he has.
She helped make him the superstar that he is today.”
The football hunk could bag any woman in the world but his mum hopes he settles down with a Portuguese girl.
She has met two past partners, model and TV presenter Merche Romero, 32, and Nereida Gallardo, 25.
But she did not like either of them, according to her pal.
Ronaldo, who owns three luxury homes and five flash cars, has given the rest of his family a hand, splashing out on a boutique aptly named CR7 for sister Elma, 34.
He has also helped his sister Catia, 30, on the road to singing success.
She has released two records under the name Ronalda.
“Dolores is overwhelmed by how much her son helps the family financially,” the friend added.
It all goes to prove that when it comes to Ronaldo, the most important women in his life are his family.
