Terry Pratchett, the master of satire and fantasy is coming to Russia! One of the most popular British authors will stop by Moscow and St Petersburg bookstores, meet his fans in the British Council centres and finish his visit with a reading at the second Moscow Book Festival.

About the author
Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled The Carpet People, appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe. Terry worked for many years as a journalist and press officer, writing in his spare time and publishing a number of novels, including his first Discworld novel, The Color of Magic, in 1983. In 1987 he turned to writing full time, and since then has managed to publish two novels a year. To date there are a total of 33 books in the Discworld series, of which three (so far) are written for children.

Pratchett lists his recreations as "writing, walking, computers, life". He is also well known for his penchant for wearing large, black hats, as seen on the inside back covers of most of his books. In 2003 Pratchett firmly reinforced his credentials as one of Britain's most loved authors by joining Charles Dickens as the only author with five books in the BBC's Big Read top 100.

Regarded as one of the most significant contemporary English-language satirists, Pratchett has won numerous literary awards, In 1998 Terry Pratchett was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to literature. He has also been awarded honorary Doctorates of Literature from the Universities of Warwick, Portsmouth, Bath, and Bristol. His acclaimed novels have sold 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 33 languages.
