Some foods can help your body absorb iron.
To do this, do not drink coffee or tea, do not eat foods rich in calcium, or drinks with iron.
Calcium itself can interfere with iron absorption.
To improve the effect, eat foods with a good source of vitamin C, such as orange juice, broccoli or strawberries.
Also eat non-heme foods with meat, fish and poultry.
If you're having trouble getting enough iron from food sources, you may need an iron supplement. But first, talk to your doctor about the correct dosage and follow their instructions carefully.
