USA – THE EVIL EMPIRE! 10-03-2004 20:49 к комментариям - к полной версии - понравилось!

I got the idea for this post from the comments I often hear on li.ru, such as the comment by flat-out.

The idea is this – USA is stripping the world of resources, bullying everyone around, trying to enrich itself, while everyone else suffers and that’s why the world is such a bad place.

Now let’s take a look at the world, shall we? We’d like to think that we live in a world where people truly care about each other, willing sharing their resources with and other things they own with one another. We’d like to think that, but that’s simply not true!

When is the last time Saudi Arabia said to a poor African country – you know what, guys, I know you don’t have the money, but go ahead and take our oil – here, we know you need it? Or Russia said to Chechnya, we’ve been fighting for a while, and even though it’s our territory and it’s important for us to have access to the oil in the region – go ahead and separate, that’s ok, we’ll manage?

The truth is every country is looking only for their own best interest at heart, they care about their own people, and they want to make their life better for their own people, and when it comes down to it, they really don’t care about anyone else. That’s how the world is now.

Imagine the world as a playground with each country being a child in that playground.

Now imagine you’re the toughest, strongest kid on the block, everyone either respects you or fears you. You’ve got the power and most of the goodies, and most of the other kids hate you for it. They would like to have the same kind of power and goodies, but to get it they have to go through you and they are afraid, because they know they are not strong enough. They can’t really get together and beat you up because they don’t really like each other either; the only thing they really care about is their own interests.

They want the same power and goodies, but the problem is they do not want to share it with anyone else.

Now, if you are that toughest kid on the block and you want to keep that power and goodies for yourself and keep the other kids in line you have two choices:

1. Wait until someone gets strong enough and gets enough courage to challenge you and then fight them. OR
2. Every once in a while show off your strength and beat up a kid that you really don’t like to show the other kids you’re still the toughest and the strongest.

If you wait until they challenge you, you’ll most likely be in a very serious fight, since the kid is probably have been getting ready for a while to take you on. And even if you win – it will not come easy, you’ll have a few bruises for sure.

Now, if you don’t wait and just pick on the kid that has been making a lot of noise and beat him up, the fight will be much easier and your losses will be a lot less.

Now of course in a perfect world there is a third choice – where everyone’s equal, there is no strongest, no weakest kids, everyone’s sharing, living in total peace, holding hands singing happy songs – but we haven’t gotten there yet.

So to sum up my points, USA as the toughest and strongest kid on the block is doing exactly what everyone else is doing – Looking out for THEIR OWN best interests and making life better for THEIR OWN people.

The difference between USA and the rest of the world is that USA is doing it better than anyone else, and that’s why USA has all the stuff and that’s why most other countries hate the US.

wow, either my work's really tough or the topic is out of the life i live))
i'm here at last anyway.

>while everyone else suffers and that’s why the world is such a bad place.

nope, you're re-placing the points of view, in the way you (and no other one else) see them))

the states do really make all they are able to do to have the world around spinning in the way the like it, but i do not oppose the rest of the world to the united sates.
vice versa - communistic heaven is an idealistic bullshit which does not have anything in common with the human nature.
the world cannot be devided to the strong and the weak halves. That's so called double standards policy.
and the world is too much different for that.

i agree with RedDragon in the idea of partnership, with the Law common for all. if i got her right.

and pls tell me one thing, why do you mix your Saudi Arabia fantasy with the criminal massacre in Ch.? Do you really believe it's the oil which is the only couse of war there?

How is Chechnya different from let's say Azerbajan, Georgia, Kazhahstan, etc?

Russia didn't mind them separating, what's the big deal about Chechnya? There is got to be MORE involved here then simple pride - something like - no we WILL NEVER give any part of our homeland, because to be honest Chechnya was never REALLY a part of Russia - look at it's history from the Czarist times, Chechens are separatists, they never wanted to be a part of Russia, so let's them separate, why not?

Of course there is oil involved (but not ONLY), otherwise Russia's decison to fight Chechens makes no Business Sense whatsoever.

How many lives were lost so far? How much $ was lost to that war? Whatever the benefits of Chechnya being a part of Russia were lost ago overshadowed by the how much of resource Russia spent trying to keep Chechnya in.

The point is, Russia will never give Chechnya away because it's a sign of weakness, and Russia cannot show that.

DarkMagician, before reading my comments please make sure you looked through this.
How is Chechnya different from let's say Azerbajan, Georgia, Kazhahstan, etc?
both historically and according to the Constitution of Russian Federation.
Do you respect the US Law? What will they make with you if you violate the US Constitution?
Russia didn't mind them separating, what's the big deal about Chechnya?
If Russia sets Ch. free (let's call it like that, as they prefer to call it in the US) Russia will subsequently loose the rest of North Caucasus and Turkey will take its place. Moreover, Turkey's influence in some muslim republics in Russia grows its strength. To understand that it's not necessary to know geopolitics as I do. I can even see that easely when I'm visiting my relatives in Kazan. I'm very much anxious on how my younger second cousin turns into a zombie willing to help those morons in Ch. and much more anxious on the large-scale brain-wash of the young tatars performed by southern "brothers" as they call them.... That's a bomb in the very heart of Russia and the timer is doing its count-down..
I would rather not comment on that as it looks like you know OUR history from school and from news-papers only. You remember my recent comment on the Tatar Yoke?..
However I'll hint at the reasons why the Czarist military found theirselves in Caucasus in average. That had initially been a protectional measure. Who do you think the military protected there? Russians? No. The representatives of different Caucasian tribes and people applied to Russia both to stop inter-ethnical war in the area and to be boosted into general development together with one of the foremost countries of that time - Russia (Did you by any way know that we used to be an advanced Power then?).
let's them separate, why not?
Because I want peace at my home. See above why it's impossible if they are separated.
Of course there is oil involved (but not ONLY), otherwise Russia's decison to fight Chechens makes no Business Sense whatsoever.
one of the reasons, but the business is not the natural resources only. Think wider.
How many lives were lost so far? How much $ was lost to that war? Whatever the benefits of Chechnya being a part of Russia were lost ago overshadowed by the how much of resource Russia spent trying to keep Chechnya in.
$? Sure!! Do you know why the "separatists" are still armed, are partly not native chechens and have slaves working for them?
By the way, can you tell me the exact year of the racial segregation termination in the United states? And why do the most-advanced in humanitarian questions States in the world still kill criminals?) Ahh.. of course, there's no Hague Law for the States, for that big boy)) Sorry)
Next..
The point is, Russia will never give Chechnya away because it's a sign of weakness, and Russia cannot show that.
Please see again all I tried to explain above.

Cheers.

To be honest, whatever the information I was going by came directly from my memory or from what I learned before through my education (either Russian or American). If I wanted to argue badly enough, I make sure I'd find the proper sources to quote and historical documents to back me up, but I really don't have either the time, nor desire to do that right now.

History is a very subjective science, especially the deeper we go into in, for each historical occurance there are at least two or more points of view of how and why that occurance came to be - so whether Chechnya ever belonged to Chechen people or not (for example)- different historians have different opinion and quote different thing.

If you go deeper and deeper into history, that part of Russia never really belong to Russia - Byzantine empire had the rights there, Roman Empire, as well as Mongols and Persia I'm sure. So the point is - it's all subjective.

As for Iraq not bothering anybody - well, that's subjective too. Here's an example:

Do countries that support terrorism (I'm not saying whether Iraq even have or not) either directly or indirectly - bother anybody? Not really, but their auctions (or inactions) lead to deaths, and that's not acceptable.

Iraq had to be dealt with, for various reasons, and it was dealt with, get over it, it's done.

Chechnya had to be dealt with, for various reasons, and it's wasn't dealt with, it's not done - parts of Chechnya now are still NOT under Russian control, you cannot say that about IRAQ.

DarkMagician, I can say that US soldiers die in Iraq almost every week. Does that mean everything is now allright in Iraq?

if you call chechen murderers separatists, why should we call iraqi patriotic defenders who fight aggressors mm.. terrorists?

Of course everything is not ok with Iraq, but there isn't a city, a town, or a village in Iraq which is not under US control. Can you say the same for Chechnya? There aren't villages or even cities where Russian forces wouldn't even dare to enter?

And to me, separatists in Chechnya are terrorists, because they use terrorist tactics to fight their war. Anyone who uses terrorists methods should be called a "terrorist".

What do you mean saying "Russian forces"? Please be advised that there have non been taken any large-scale operations there for a very long time, because of the civilians. And the only sense of keeping forces in the area is designating and eliminating the covered "multinational" armed groups.
The militia and police are filled up with the local chechens mainly.
In Iraq, let me assure you, no one of the US soldiers will dare to go out of their guarded positions. The only exception are patrol and special missions. Do they call it "keep under control" in the US?
And please don't forget about the geograpical peculiarities which differ in Iraq (Afganistan) and Ch. Moreover, the urbanized terrain warfare is quite specific depending on many factors.
And to me, separatists in Chechnya are terrorists, because they use terrorist tactics to fight their war. Anyone who uses terrorists methods should be called a "terrorist".
How do the americans do with the terrorists? Do they set them free?
