Художник. Израильтянин, как будто. Но пишет всегда французских дам!
Art is life…or perhaps life is art".
Women meeting in somewhat hazy coffee-houses, colors that are bold and bright – Isaac Maimon’s world is one of pure atmosphere. As the owner of many Israeli cafes, he has lived amid the coffee house culture. His passion is to put onto canvas that sense of limbo in which day and night mingle and the very air is full of the hint and promise of many secrets yet untold.
Born in Israel in 1951 to French-speaking parents, Maimon showed at an early age a natural talent for art. Enthusiastically supported by his family, he attended between 1973 and 1976 Israel’s most prestigious art academy, the Avni Institute of Fine Art in Tel Aviv. It was during this period that the budding artist first cultivated his interest in the Paris school of painting. In 1978, he moved to its epicenter and haunted Paris’ galleries and museums as well as its many cafes in the Montparnasse, Saint-Michel and Latin quarters. Art, for Maimon, is to be found in every niche; for "Paris is a great art exhibition". Looking back today on his development as an artist, he declares "I have been painting since as far back as I can remember. I received much encouragement from my family and friends. In my youth, I was given important direction from Moshe Agmon, and later, I was greatly influenced at the Avni Institute by Haim Kiva and Moshe Rosentalis, whose studio I frequently visited. Other artists whose paintings have had an impact on me are Matisse and…Lautrec".
Upon his return to Israel in 1980, the artist began teaching at the School of Visual Arts, then at the Kaye Art Academy and later as a professor of art at the Ben-Gurion University, all in the city of Beer-Sheba. His art eventually took him to the United States where he toured the continent from California to Florida, exhibiting his compositions at many successful one-man shows. Charmed by the American art-buying public, Maimon greatly appreciated their warm, easy manner and fascination with and acceptance of his work.
Today, Maimon is best known for capturing Paris’ "boulevard culture" – that unique French ambiance that has so intrigued such artists as Toulouse-Lautrec and Bonnard. In commenting on his own works, the artist has said "I have always been attracted to the atmosphere of the Paris coffee houses of the twenties. I try to recreate this in my paintings. Painting is apart of me. It is my way of expressing myself. Life is art and my art is my life". Bold in color, the works of Isaac Maimon are absorbing, rich, and of course, uniquely "Maimon".
levkonoe, Я имею в виду что та его работа, которая у вас на жж - там цвета намного чище - а здесь, у меня на мониторе по меньешй мере, они как-то подгашены
