Накануне "Международного дня инвалидов" (празднуемого 3 декабря) семейная пара Сайед Ризван Фарук и Ташфин Малик совершили нападение на центр Inland Regional Center, занимающийся обслуживанием граждан с умственной отсталостью убив 14 и ранив 17 человек.
Нападавшие в ходе проведения специального мероприятия по их задержанию были блокированы и убиты в перестрелке.
Мотивы нападавших до сих пор не установлены.
ФБР признала случившееся террористическим актом. Полиция настаивает на бытовых мотивах случившегося.
