Два члена экипажа итальянского корабля «Enirca Lexie», обвиняемые в убийстве двух индийских рыбаков, предстанут 20 февраля 2012 года сегодня перед судом.
Инцидент, в котором участвовал итальянский танкер, произошел в среду в Аравийском море примерно в 22 км от южно-индийского штата Керала.
По данным индийских СМИ, итальянская команда безопасности на борту «Enirca Lexie» приняла индийских рыбаков за пиратов и открыла огонь по судну.
Два рыбака были убиты.
Танкер был остановлен и препровожден в индийский порт Кочин.
По данным телевидения, только двое из шести морских охранников на борту были арестованы. Латорре Массимилиано и Сальваторе Джирон, были взяты под стражу индийской полицией в воскресенье.
Инцидент вызвал дипломатический скандал между Италией и Индией. Индийский министр обороны заявил, что вопрос «очень серьезный» и призвал итальянского посла в Дели ответить на вопросы по поводу инцидента в четверг.
Итальянская компания, которой принадлежит судно, заявила, что «Enirca Lexie» подвергся нападению, и что экипаж действовал в соответствии с международными правилами.
