В конце сентября 2010 года «Remington» всё же получила ожидаемый контракт на модернизацию 3,6 тысячи снайперских винтовок М24.
Получила довольно быстро, на всё ушло 9 месяцев.
Цена вопроса - 28,2 млн. долларов.
Все винтовки М24 будут доведены до версии М24Е1 за пять лет с момента подписания контракта.

М24Е1 в качестве основного патрона будет использовать 300 Winchester Magnum (7,62х67 миллиметров), который по всем показателям превосходит стандартный патрон НАТО, что позволит поражать цели на расстоянии до 1200 метров вместо 800.
Винтовка будет оснащаться глушителем Titan-QD, снижающий на 98% дульное пламя от выстрела, на 60% отдачу и на уменьшает звук выстрела на 32 децибела.
Стандартным оптическим прицелом будет являться Leupold Mark 4 6,5-20x50 миллиметра с изменяемой яркостью подсветки прицельной сетки.
Приклад складывающийся, планки Пикатинни позволяют монтировать любые дополнительные устройства.

U.S. Army Spc. Landon Roberts takes up a defensive aiming position at Nangalam base, Sept. 10. The Nashville, Tenn., native, serves as a sniper, 3rd Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment. Roberts joined the Army about three years ago and this is her first deployment as a sniper.
Third Squadron is at Nangalam to support their Afghan counterparts in securing a specific route to the Chapa Dara District center.
The squadron is part of 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division based out of Fort Polk, La.
