Декорируем и переделываем модные вещицы. Мастер-класс. Часть #3.

“L” stands for Long and Luxe. The lovely ladies at Who What Wear and I both fell hardcore for Chanel’s dramatic chain earrings, which embody these 2 “L’s”. Chanel’s SS11 runway boasted gold and black decadence that dripped and made jaws drop. Karl Lagerfeld’s sophisticated lady, toyed with her inner rebel- migrated downtown- and showed her wild side. Live long and prosperous, like a Lagerfeld Lady, and….P.S.- create something you’re longing for!
To create a waterfall of wonderful chain inspired by Uncle Karl’s, connect jump rings to long pieces of cut chain using small pliers. Create two long clusters of chain, attaching them together by threading fishing line through a ribbon clamp. This will create a full chain with lots of movement. Triple knot and snip off ends of fishing line. Use a strong adhesive glue to attach earring posts onto the back of the ribbon clamp. Hold in place for a few seconds, and let dry completely before moving. To achieve a bottom of black ombre, lay earrings on flat covered surface and lightly spray from middle down, using matte spray paint. Let dry- flip, and spray another light layer (PS- spray outside!) When earrings are dry, you’re ready to rock em! [показать]

We can’t suspend time, however pants we can. Enter my friend, Leandra Medine. Recently, the urban dictionary got a run for its money when Leandra coined the seriously stylish term: MAN REPELLER. If you’re not familiar with her harem pant, shoulder pad, and turban wearing ways, CLICK HERE to educate yourself and embrace the au courant epidemic. Man Repellers don trends women think are positively great, and men flat out hate. Her cool combo of spot on style and witty ways are unconventionally j’amazing. Leandra told me she had been dying to DIY her current obsession… SUSPENDERS! We put our kooky, creative heads together and PS’ed these. P.S.- you should too!
Measure and cut two pieces of ribbon and/or material. The “front” material should be longer than the “back X”. We chose a wide satin ribbon and delicate organza combo. Find the center point of each, and slightly overlap, creating a “U” shape. Loop it. Slip it. Knot it. Throw over your shoulders, keeping the “X” in the back and secure by tying knots to the belt loops on your pants. Get creative with materials and widths and don’t be afraid to indulge your inner MAN REPELLER!

Brace your waist… because it’s about to get wrapped, roped, and tasseled! One of the hottest runway trends was the bold belt with accents of adornment that sinch, squeeze, and please in all the right places. Infusing both the wild waist belt and the tassel trend; Oscar de la Renta’s belt and beaded tassel earrings hail from Chicistan, where all things scream lady luxe! Neiman Marcus, Fashion Director, Ken Downing, picked his favorite Gucci gold belt as one of his “must haves” for the season that infuses the tassel tie as well. The wide belt can be styled over dresses and long tunic tops matched with a sophisticated wide leg pant. Stand out from the rest as you dress to impress and belt out loud!
To create your tassel belt, measure your waist and cut fabric to wrap all the way around, leaving approx. a 4-6 inch gap. Leathers and suede are great options as well. Slice two slits on both sides, large enough to thread through. Gather and thread your cord/ropes through, knotting tassels on the ends. Make sure you have enough cord to go all the way around and to tie off in the front. A monochromatic color scheme is always chic choice, however get creative with colors, textures, and tassels- mix and match ‘em! Have fun getting waisted (no age requirements here).

P.S.- LOVE IS IN THE AIR! Whether you heart St.Valentine’s Day or simply steer clear of it, we should always remember to love ourselves day in and day out, (Hallmark holiday aside). I will trade a box ‘o chocolates for jewelry any day of the week, and I’m sure most of you would too! Here is my DIY love life advice: Don’t wait around for your crush to come through with bijoux…. P.S.- MAKE IT YOURSELF! Follow in the footsteps of leading sweethearts Audrey Hepburn and Carrie Bradshaw, who always seemed to be doused in layers of pearls, while looking for their leading man.
To create a stand out, chunky, pearl statement necklace just reach for 3 strands of long pearl or beaded necklaces (experiment with different colored options), wide ribbon, and a decorative brooch. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE HOW-TO VIDEO with Fashionista.com and get ready to fall head over heels in love with this lovely neck candy! xoxo

Its not a vest, its not a cowl, its a VOWL! The luxe and long duster was inspired by the master crafter himself, designer & man-we-bow-down-to: Rick Owens! The American born designer hails from California, and is currently dreaming and designing in Paris. Owens is wildly known for his avant garde approach to tailoring, draping, and the infusion of asymmetrical angels. Take a note from the school of Rick and expect the unexpected. I suggest taking risks and applying the “departure” approach to your own personal style. Get inspired by a real genius, and get crafting…
To make a VOWL duster, use approx 3 yards of fabric (P.S.- Mood Fabrics has the best selection), and fold in half. Fold and glue down angled corners, which will create an A-line silohoutte. P.S.- Make sure you’re folding/gluing on the inside of the piece. Create an exaggerated fold at the top for the cowl collar (approx. 10 inches), and glue underneath the fold. More experienced DIY’ers can opt to stitch. Measure your shoulder width, and cut arm holes just under the collar. Use a Large pin to close, or wear open for a more free-flowing option.

Everything’s coming up roses! The metallic movement is in full force. Traditional yellow gold is taking a back seat to the nowness of rose gold. The cool combination of gold and copper alloy create a brilliance that will stands out in every way, shape, and form. The unexpected metal hue of rose gold nods to luxurious living with vintage flair accents. Look to Cartier who incorporates the intense element into watches, rings and all sorts of fab things! Nicholas Kirkwood dazzles decedent crazy-cool-heels in this amazing hue to boot!
To create an easy breezy beautiful rose gold statement necklace, take a trip to your local hardware store and pick up copper pipe fittings, also known as couplings. Available in elbow shapes as well as straight options, these materials will cost pennies. Major bang for your buck, so stock up! String onto a contrasting ribbon or rope and rev up for a healthy reality of rose gold.

Birds of a feather flock together! I teamed up with Who What Wear for a DIY that I’m DIY-ing over. This season were seeing flirty and fancy feather detail all over the place. Follow in flight and join the ranks of Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Cynthia Rowley, and more. Boasting frilly feathers say a lot about your personality: You’re bold, a fashion risk taker, love to twirl on the dance floor, and have a keen eye for beautiful things. Get involved with a trend that transcended from 1920 Flappers and continues to make our arms flap. For a DIY do, take my advice and take the plumage plunge!
Choose your favorite feather trim and a skirt of the same color. With just a pair of scissors and fabric glue, you will be in business and ready to fly away with your newest DIY fashion. Glue and wrap the entire way up, starting at the bottom, leaving approx. 2-3 inches. P.S.- Check the weather report: Feather weather is in full effect!

P.S.- you stand out, so why shouldn’t your accessories? This is knot your typical ear warmer. Take a DIY approach on the turban tie-up, add some sweetness, and P.S. your own version. Get excited to craft and capture some street chic vibes.
For the foundation of the ear warmer, reach into your drawers and re-purpose a sock! If you’re like me and have a few “lone solider” socks, this is a great way to re-purpose them. First, layer a thin scarf (or opt for a piece of fabric) on the sock. Make sure the 2nd layered fabric is longer than the sock base. Knot the two together, band the sides, trim with sharp scissors and you are ready to rock it. Secure in the back by tying the ends together.

It was an affair to remember at Kate Spade! I have been a fan of this iconic brand since day one, and had the pleasure of getting creative and crafty with their namesake London tote. Deborah Lloyd, Chief Creative Officer, and I hosted a fete at the Flagship Broome Street store in celebration of my BOOK. A handful of my closest creative friends from Design*Sponge, Fashionista.com, StyleRepublic Magazine, Lonny Magazine, and style guru Andrew Mukamal, got their DIY on and did not disappoint! Deborah even joined in on the fun. Check out the PICTURES of everyones exceptionally creative, one-of-a-kind “PS’ed” designs, as well as the bevy of other fabulous guests who customized Limited Edition “P.S.- I made this… with Kate Spade” bags.
P.S.- My bag was painted with Hudson Chalk board paint (yes! you can draw and erase on the surface), studded on the bottom with edgy silver spikes from M&J, faux stitched with Sharpies, and finished off with a bag charm (chalk not included)! Take a page from Kate Spade’s world of style and remember to have fun, and have courage- don’t be shy with your DIY!

Cut - it - out… Literally! There’s no time like the present to give yourself a present! Being crafty and creating fun fashions can take seconds. Case in point: The cut out sweatshirt! REIMAGINE, REUSE, & REINVENT this very instant. Take two things you probably already have at home: a sweatshirt and your trusty scissors and get inspired by the casual cool Alexander Wang and the athletic inspired looks were seeing all around. Going the distance is easy when you sport the sporty look like a DIY Champ!
P.S.- My good friends at Fashionista.com and I both agree that GREY is the new BLACK! We teamed up for a fun video DIY. Click HERE to watch the how-to- and say P.S.- I made this…!

Fashion, art, and creativity make the world go ‘round. When all are combined, endless and innovative magic happens. The never-ending cycle of a circle is something that is sought after. This season, set your sights not only on infinite possibilities, but also scarves! The circle scarf has become a staple in everyones’ wardrobe. Infuse the essential chunky knit to stay cozy and au currant. Continuous knit circle scarves can be worn long and loose or wrapped up right. Either way you style it, circle gets the square!
To create your own DIY circle scarf, simply cut off the bottom half of your sweater, hem the raw edge with Gorilla Tape by sticking halfway down, and folding over to seal. After completely “hemmed”, roll underneath several times to hide the tape and create a soft edge.

Fall Fashion aside, another reason why I love Autumn is that it’s APPLE PICKING season! Ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED heading out to the country to gather up some crisp, delicious fruit. On a recent day trip, I drove my Ford Edge to Wilklow Orchards in Highland, NY. On my long drive outside NYC, I spotted beautiful fall foliage and collected ‘oodles of apples. For more on my amazing DAY, which turned into a home décor DIY, Click HERE!
I re-purposed my bushel basket because I wasn’t ready to part with the cool container. I added some shiny dome studs, dropped in a lamp kit, wrapped the cord with rope and the result was this fun pendant lamp. Check out the full step by step DIY on Design*Sponge. P.S.- I also made baked apples and my FAMOUS strawberry rhubarb applesauce. I see it. I like it. I make it… (i also eat it!)
P.S.- Ford has provided me this 2011 Edge, gas and insurance to use as my primary vehicle for three months. In exchange, I will post videos, photos, and blogs that document my use of this vehicle in my everyday life. http://cmp.ly/6/uep9w6

Peruse your closet and prepare to POM! Currently, we’re seeing the fluffy pom pom detail all around us. Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney have made a seasonal statement with touches of pom poms on bags, whereas Sonia Rykiel took to the Pom as inspiration for the hair shown at her FW10 show. We can’t get enough of this puffy and whimsical wonder.
Right now, grab a bag… embrace this cozy and cute trend, get inspired and get crafty. I opted for this cute FOREVER 21 bag paired with gray POM POMS. Use your trusty glue gun and dot a dab of glue on each pom and place on the bag. Make sure you don’t leave too much space between each pom, they should completely cover your surface. Feel free to get creative with your colors and infuse the pom on practically anything and everything!
P.S.- October is Breast Cancer awareness month- try and infuse the color and cause into your life! Sharpie is spreading the word, which benefits The City of Hope! Get involved. Аринуш
