Materials
- Satin (2 shades)
- Organza (1 or 2 shades)
- Lace
- Pearl beads (3 or more sizes)
- Thread
- Needle
- Scissors
- Candle
Instructions
Begin by printing out the fabric flower template. Use the large satin template to cut out a piece of your darker colored satin, and the smaller piece to cut out your lighter satin. Then do the same for the organza. You may choose to have two shades of organza, or just one as we did for our example. Then cut out a small circle of lace that is about the size of a penny. See photo A.
Now you will singe the edges of each piece of fabric to make it curl. Be sure to do this in a well ventilated area, and away from anything that is flammable. Simply hold the edge of the satin an inch or two above the flame, right side down. For the organza, you may want to hold it a little further away, as it tends to curl a lot easier than the satin. See photo B. Then take a look at photo C to see about how all 4 pieces should now look.
Place all of your pieces of fabric on top of one another, with the large dark satin on the bottom, then the large organza followed by the small satin, and then the small organza. Then place your small piece of lace in the center. Pick out three or more pearl beads in various sizes and sew these in the center. This will hold the whole flower together. See photo D. Your flower is now complete! You can choose to use it in any number of ways at your wedding.
If you would like to use the flower as a brooch or boutonniere, simply hot glue or sew on a pin to the back of the flower as shown in photo E.
