Today’s Block
I’ve been leading you in this direction. Today, we start with some seriously small strips: 1″ strips, the size we will use for the majority of blocks. I promise not to go any smaller. If you thought your little blocks were sweet, wait until you see the ones we create at this size!

Today’s Block
This is the unit block for the design I’ve always called Triple Rail Fence, and the first quilt I ever finished! That was in 1998, in my first beginner’s quilt class, with Kathleen Winter in Rockhampton, Central Queensland, using the Mary-Ellen Hopkins methods. I know it was 1998, because Mary-Ellen was kind enough to autograph my book! Who remembers their “PPM”?
I’d love to show you a photo of the quilt, but it’s very embarrassing, as it’s been used as a cat blanket for a few years. It’s seen better days; it served as a proper cot blanket originally! It certainly isn’t big enough to wrap the child anymore.
This block also goes by the name of The Roman Stripe, according to Maggie Malone.

Today’s Block
Even though Maggie Malone illustrates this block, she doesn’t offer a name. It’s merely “unknown”. Well, not any more. Let’s christen it … Maggie’s Mystery!

Congratulations! You solved Maggie’s Mystery. How many Maggie’s do we have in our group at the moment?
