Several years later he headed to New York where he appeared on Broadway and several television series before landing a role on Another World. (He portrayed the “evil” Sven Peterson for two seasons. He was so good one person actually hit him due to his character’s behavior.) His film career included small roles in Slaughterhouse Five, The Great Gatsby, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Escape From Alcatraz, and Christine (an OOTD favorite). His filmography, which spanned five decades, is available here. But for two decades he has been known to children and parents alike as “Marley,” the reclusive neighbor in Home Alone. After debunking the myth that he had killed his whole family with a shovel (oh, Buzz, you little liar), Marley becomes Kevin’s confidant and eventual savior - learning a little bit about his own family along the way. A holiday classic…that involves the vicious assault of two thieves as its climax. (Honestly, it’s rather entertaining.) Mr. Blossom retired in 1999 to California where he wrote poetry and worked on yoga. He was 87 years old.
