This mantra is one of the oldest sanskrit mantras of Lord Shiva who is known as the "Destroyer" and holds the powers to vanquish any illness no matter how serious it may seem. This mantra helps to purify the karmas of the soul at a deep level, which benefits the mantal, emotional and physical wellbeing. Lord Shiva is also able to give life and extend one's life span. This mantra of Lord Shiva asks specifically to cure illnessess and extend the life span of whoever is ill.
