MOSCOW, Dec 18 - RIA Novosti. Naval aviation and air defense forces of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) will be united, and the headquarters of the new army will be located in Kamchatka, Izvestia writes with reference to the Defense Ministry.
The new defense structure, according to Izvestia, will consist of an aviation unit, anti-aircraft missile and radio-technical troops. The newspaper also writes that the basis of the new army will be the 317th mixed aviation regiment stationed in Elizovo near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the 53rd air defense division based in the same place.
In addition, the Russian military department was told that there will be changes in the structure of the air forces. In particular, the Defense Ministry plans to re-create regiments and divisions instead of air bases, which were created after the 2008 reform.
According to the newspaper, a new defense formation will be created to monitor threats, as well as confront sudden air strikes.
