Canadian scientists from the University of Alberta found that the concentration of urine in the pool water can be even higher than in the wastewater. The head of the scientific group Lindsay Blackstock (Lindsay Blackstock) and her colleagues decided to conduct a similar study after the incident at the Olympics - because of the algae, the water of one of the pools became bright green.The specialists analyzed water from some public swimming pools and jacuzzi in Edmonton, where the university is located. In these samples, there was much more urine than expected - in some cases, up to 75 liters of urine in 3 weeks (from the editorial office: with an average portion of up to 200 milliliters, the visitors of such a pool cared for it a small amount of a total of at least 20 times in day). In the water from the jacuzzi, urine was even more - about three times.

It would seem that nothing terrible, the water in the pool is disinfected. However, in fact, the nitrogen compounds contained in the urine enter into chemical reactions with both sweeteners and remnants of disinfectants. The results of these reactions can provoke the development of cancer, as well as diseases of the organs of vision and the respiratory system. Scientists urged visitors to the basins to refrain from urinating in places not intended for it, and owners - to control the level of sweeteners in the water, replacing it in time.
