Berlin has a population of 3.459.000 and the area measures 891 sq km.

It is a city state with 12 disctricts.Berlin was founded in the 13th century and divided into 2 parts because of the happenings during world war 2 .The Wall was built.The East was ruled by the Soviet Union and the West Side by USA,UK and France. The cold war started between the USA and the Soviets.East Berlin was part of DDR,the german democratic repulic.Nobody was allowed to go to West Berlin wihtout the Soviet's permission.The Reunion of Berlin and the fall of the Soviet Regime and the "DDR" took place with the destruction of the wall in 1989.
