Milky Way rising over Aoraki National Park in New Zealand

NGC 2146, which is also classified as a barred spiral galaxy, is undergoing massive amounts of star formation. In addition of being barred, NGC 2146 is also considered a starburst galaxy due to its intense amount of star formation. Though it is small than the Milky Way, its rate of star production is orders of magnitude grater than that of the Milky Way.
