I'm going to visit Florida next week and do you know what? I've found out I can see and maybe even touch penguins! That is I've found on their website:
NO BORDERS, NO BARRIERS, NO ACRYLIC!
The Florida Aquarium has a unique opportunity for guests to come face-to-beak with African Black-footed penguins!
The penguins come out to meet and greet our guests during daily Penguin Promenades with each pair showcased during the enriching interaction with our guests. In this 'no borders, no barriers' experience, guests become a part of the exhibit and provide a natural boundary for the penguins to get up close and personal. Shoelaces and bracelets can become their new favorite toy! Check for showtimes upon your arrival.
Come back often and see Sunny and Sandy, Cliff and Shelly and Rocky and Pebbles as they Promenade with the guests!
You can also see Pebbles regularly on FOX 13 with Chip Carter during football season as she prognosticates the weekly football picks! Go to the FOX website and search "Pebbles" to view this season's picks.
In the wild, the African Black-footed penguin lives in colonies on 24 islands between Namibia and Port Elizabeth, Africa. They are monogamous, often paring up year after year, and have been known to stay with the same mate for as many as 10 years.
