Shah was a Russian thrash metal band that formed in Moscow in 1985. They attracted the attention of Val Gaina, guitarist of fellow Russian band KRUIZ, who helped them record their first demo which he took to the German independent label Atom H Records.
The label signed the band, resulting in their debut album "Beware" which was heavily influenced by Anthrax. In 1990 Shah played at the Public Against Violence Festival in Ostava, Czechoslovakia together with the German hard rock band Bonfire and the UK thrash metal band Talion.
