Диапазон музыки сегодня невероятно огромен, но финская группа The Rasmus хочет внести свой вклад в усложнение картины с кардинально новым стилем, который они назвали “Death Pop” и в котором выпустили свой новый альбом “Black Roses” который будет издан в сентябре.

«Стиль родился спонтанно, это комбинация звуков, которые смешивают попсовость инструментов и характер песен, который гораздо темнее», - сказал солист The Rasmus, Lauri Ylönen.

После шести студийных работ, финны, создатели темы “In The Shadows” возвращают к себе внимание синглом “Livin' In A World Without You”, в написание которого вмешался продюсер Desmond Child.

Фактически «Child был рядом чтобы мы поняли кем мы были и что у нас было в частности. Ему нравилось наше звучание – немного печальное, но всё же мелодичное», - говорит певец.

Альбом “Black Roses” очень глубокий. Он состоит из 11 песен, творческий процесс которых начался «вопреки топу как он обычно происходит» с текстов, оставляя на потом написание музыки.

« У нас была история в голове и мы решили представить материал как сценарий к Голливудскому фильму, в котором некоторые песни как главы.»

В диске, Ylönen положился на свои собственные чувства при написании текстов, потому что для него музыка должна иметь правдивое основание: «Я пою свои тексты ночь за ночью и должен почувствовать», - говорит фин, который делил сцену с HIM и Negative.

«Ездя в туры с другими группами приходиться выкладываться по полной, потому что ты видешь выступления других и думаешь что должен сделать лучше. Такое здоровое соревнование среди групп», - говорит Lauri, преданный фанат Red Hot Chili Peppers и поклонник единства, которое демонстрируют калифорнийцы.

Он также видит свою группу как семью, с которой он уже разделил 14 лет своей жизни, хотя никому из них ещё не исполнилось тридцати.

Отцы. The Rasmus собираются в Сингапур на Рождество со своими семьями. У басиста группы Ээро есть две маленькие дочки, дочке барабанщика Аки один год. Сын Лаури родился в апреле и гитарист Паули стал отцом в июле.

The Rasmus's Lauri Ylönen is a musician, father and boater.

[caption] L says that his trademark hairstyle originated in middle school. ”At first it was rebellion, then it became a part of my persona.

About the band:

"Rasmus started at the Oranssi [orange] club. At our first gig only our friends and parents were present, the second time around we had 50 people present, and at our third gig there were already 100 people. That's where our career started. Our very first gig was in 1994 at Suutarila Middle School at our christmas party, in the gym which smelled of sock-sweat. We played Kummeli's classic series of Hän-Mies [he-man]. It was a much bigger hit than our own songs.

Back then we were Primus fans. And because Primus ends with an s, and I like words that end in 's', we named our band Rasmus. Now my sons name is Julius, which also ends in 's.'

It's amazing that even after all these tours and gigs, we bandmates call each other first thing if we're having a boring time at home. That's when we heat up the grill or go fishing.

Our guitarist Pauli has lived in Singapore for a year, but that hasn't slowed things down; we still arrive at the same time at a gig for example in Italy. We've planned that we'll spend Christmas together in Singapore, it'll be the bands first Christmas together under one roof."

About day to day life:

"For the past three years we've been making and recording songs for our new album Black Roses. A fight instinct woke in us, something that was missing last time. Perhaps it was because we had already achieved everything.

I've also composed music for a Finnish film, which will come out in theaters at the end of this year. It's been very therapeutic to do something completely different for a while.

I'm also working for our studio and record label. Right now I am the main producer for a certain project.

In October we're touring finland with mariko and the von herzen brothers, both of who are our record label's clients. A world wild tour will start in january from russia"

about interests:

"After a ten year long break I started drawing again:when I was younger I made graffiti's, back then I always had a pencil in my hand. Now i've designed our new album's cover.

I became interested in architecture when I had my house built; I was always surrounded by very talented people. I was very bossy with the project, I changed everything. The whole project started from scratch, now, 2 and a half years later the house is perfect.

I like the functionalist style [of architecture], and that's what the house is. However, it isn't cold, but clear and home-y. The same elements should be incorporated in music as well.

While on tour I like to walk around cities and look at architecture. Milano, for example is very fun to walk around. History is present at every corner. It's a shame that at school I through paper airplanes in history class. Nowadays I order history-magazine.

Something which I also like is taking care of my garden. I have one apple tree which only produced one apple this year. But it was big. I thought for a long time if I should make jam or pie out of it, but decided against both and instead ate the apple before the bunnies got to it or it fell out of the tree.

I also try to make time for cooking, it's relaxing. My best dish is fish soup"

About his passions:

"I just bought a motor boat, and a few books to study [boating] from. I've gone around helsinki alone and with friends. A whole new world opened up there. We had a really great sunday when we all got together and went to Suomenlinna [old war fortress in helsinki] to get some fish soup.

As a child I went fishing with my grandfather on a terhi-brand boat. We left from Herttoniemi to go fish for the whole night. Now I live and reminisce on the same waters.

I would like a good tutor, who could also teach me how to sail- It would be more ecological than going around on a motor boat. I could also participate in a campaign for cleaning the ocean, so that someday I could be a grandfather whose bait glides through the water."

about family:

"Julius is now 4 months old. I've gotten to know him over the past few months at home. Even today I played with julius the whole morning, and couldnt get myself to leave.

In the future daddy has to go on tour, which we have to organize somehow. Sometimes we've been on tour for 250 days of the year, but it might be a bad idea to have Julius come along with us on tour. Как обычно ребята страдают фигней и выпускают много версий одного альбома, а потом жалуются, что слишком много скачивают бесплатно в инете. Не понятно, они действительно думают, что кто-то будет покупать ещё один диск ради одной песни или что все остальные фанаты по всему миру останутся равнодушными к этой песни и позволят только британцам её слушать?! о_О

A big hit with "ITS" and a media suitable singer with his crew let The Rasmus get at a single stroke a lot of success world-wide. The great success had the young band in Finnland years ago. But then it'll be more and more quiet, till they start with their new album "Black Roses" with which they go on new and old ways. What meant by this will tell the singer Lauri Ylönen to us.

R: Since your last album past years. When did you go together to make music?
L: Yes, it was 3 years. Okay we've played circa 200 shows in 38 chountrys. There were the lot of tours and the other reason was that we thought it's better to occupy efficiently with the new album before we wanna release it. Not like the last album we've made. There we were powered by the success of ITS and stucked in this, you know?
If the success begins to control you and your music then it's wrong. We wantd to fell free and made a lot of changes. For example we've changed the producer, were in america and so on. In our music changed a lot of things too, we went a bit different, more electronic. We are glad that we could refresh all the things.
R: How long did you work on this album?
L: Circa one and a half year. It's a longt time I know. Normally we've released every 2 years a new album. But this time we needed the time.
R: Would you prefer to be faster with the production of new songs?
L: You have to bee spontaneous. Sometimes youve got good ideas if you think about things calmly. E.g. the first single of the album is "Livin' In A World Without You", a totally new song. It was composed 3 months ago. We went to Berlin because of a few meetings and decided "Let's compose one more song". I had a idea for this song and started to compose it. I think you can hear it in the song. As well this song is different to the other songs on the album. There so much electronic parts but this one song will present our sound in a special way. We spend a lot of time with thinking about the concept of the album too. It stray from the topic but I think it's important: I've read a book for screenwriters of the film bussiness, how you have to write the basis of a perfect script. In the book it describes (in 4 chapter) how the dramatical act will go off. A lot of films like "Star Wars", "E.T" or "Titanic" follow this structure. This time there is put next to the art a bit science. We've written a roman with "Black Roses" which bases on facts and experience but with a bit fiction too. The story we've called "Black Roses" because the black roses are the basic and act a special part. The figures in this story sends black roses wo each other because they are seperated from each other. This procedure was a basical change. Afer the story was finish we've written songs for the emotions and categories. This form of the art was relly inspiriring.
R: The big success of Dead Letters and In The Shadows is in the head if you hear the name "The Rasmus". Do you have a higher pressure because of the success when you made a new album?
L: I think when we released Hide From The Sun we had this pressure. But now - I think the really massive succes was for 5 years that's a long time - we recreated from it. It's more relaxed and freer.
R: What do you think, do you reached some things because of you success what other people will never get?
L: Okay, we've seen a lot of this world. I think we was in 66 different countries. That's a good reason to play in a band! (he laughs). To travel a lot, to get to know other people and cultures. That's fantastic and inspirating if you write the songs yourself. You have to keep the eyes open! I advise other people wo travel a lot because it's very important! You learn to understand yourself better if you've seen a lot of other things.
R: What do you need to stay down on earth? What can you suggest?
L: I think old friends (before this success started) are very important. When the hype starts all will be different and you will go different too. Then you don't trust anyone and anything! The own innocence gets lost. Yes it sounds terribble but so it is. That's why I appreciate my old friends and family! I shouldn't keep them in mind and have to keep in touch with them. If we're on tour it means that we can't stay at home 250 days a year. So it's quite hard to keep in touch. Especially you go home after 8 weeks. If you're on tour the life has a extremly tempo! Suddenly you went home and time stops. It's hard to stop yourself too, do you understand? You are used that there happens something all the time and you can't relaxe. You need one week to recreate. It's a feeling like a horrible hangover.
R: The actual album handles about togetherness and problems which could grow. Did you had so much misfortune in the love?

Yippee! The coming single "Livin' In A World Without You" is the most played song on Finnish radio! It is since two weeks Number 1 on the Airplay charts in Finland.

The new single is released September 5 (digital) and September 10 (maxi CD).

Livin' In A World Without You tracklist
The Rasmus new single will be released in 2 formats, a 2-track single and a 4-track maxi. The 2-track has the video as b-side, and the 4-track has the video plus one album track, "You Got It Wrong" and an acoustic version of "Livin' In A World Without You".

The release on iTunes will have one more exclusive track; "Livin' In A World Without You - Milan East RMX" and this is set for September 5.

NOTE: The dates may vary in some countries, these dates are accurate for at least Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
