MEASUREMENTS: 35cm/14in tall

MATERIALS:
Of Patons Knit'n'Save D.K. 25g balls: 3 in White (shade no.7813), 2 each in Taupe (shade no.7808), Cameo Rose (shade no.7831) and Teddy Bear (shade no. 7719), and 1 each in Brown (shade no.7832), Sky Blue (shade no,7916) and Black (shade no.7814); 175g of washable toy stuffing; an 11cm diameter circle of 1cm thick washing-up sponge; fabric adhesive; pair of 3mm (no.ll) knitting needles: crochet hook or latched rug hook.

TENSION: 26 sts and 36 rows to 10cm. worked over stocking stitch with Knit'n'Save D.K. on 3mm needles.

ABBREVIATIONS:

beg = beginning; cont = continue: dec = decrease (by working 2 stitches together); gs = garter stitch: inc = increase (by working into front and back of stitch): К = knit; P = purl; RS = right side; ss - stocking stitch; st(s) = stitch(es); SKPO = slip one. knit one, pass slipped stitch over; tog = together.

NOTE: Begin all pieces worked in stocking stitch with а К row, unless otherwise stated.

 

UNDERSKIRT (MAKE 1 PIECE)

 
Next row: (K2, К 2 tog) to end [45 sts]. Ss 3 rows.

Next row: (K1, К 2 tog) to end [30 sts], Ss 3 rows.

Next row: (K 2 tog) to end [15 sts]. Break yarn, leaving a long end, thread through sts on needle, draw up lightly and fasten off.

BODICE (MAKE 1 PIECE)

With RS of work facing and Teddy Bear, К up 72 sts evenly spaced along row-ends of other long edge of underskirt.
P 1 row and break off Teddy Bear.

Work check pattern thus:

Row 1: К in Cameo Rose.

Row 2: P in Cameo Rose.

Rows 3 & 5: K2 Cameo Rose, (3 White, 2 Cameo Rose) to end.

Rows 4 & 6: P2 Cameo Rose, (3 White, 2 Cameo Rose) to end.

Work these 6 rows three times altogether.

Shape shoulders, next row: With Cameo Rose, (K 2 tog) to end [36 sts], P 1 row Cameo Rose.

Cast off for top edge.

SLEEVES (MAKE 2 PIECES)

With Cameo Rose cast on 26 sts for cuff edge and gs 2 rows.

Next row: K2, (inc 1, K1) eleven times, K2 [37 sts]. P 1 row.
