Element Eighty(E80) — это nu metal/alternative-группа из Техаса (США).

Есть много вещей, которые заставляют группы непрерывно перемешивать длинные путешествия и записи новых альбомов. Это надежда славы. Это надежда на богатство и способность жить в роскоши. Но если убрать всё это то останется только две причины, по которым о Element Eighty пишет пресса: это любовь к их музыке и уважение к ним как к музыкантам. Почти за шесть лет Техасский квартет повидал и астрономические высоты, и некоторые угнетающие низкие уровни. «Мы делали для этого не много, и мы видели, как много групп приходили и уходили. Есть немного групп, которые остались и продолжают играть подобно нам. » - говорит Дэвид – фронтмен EE. Группа, состоящая из Дэвида Галовея (Вокал), Мета Вудса (Гитара), Раяна Кароля (Барабаны) и Рона (Бас), была сформирована в 2000 году и выпустила свой дебютный альбом Mercuric в 21 июня 2001 года. "Element Eighty" объехали практически все сцены Далласа и вскоре им предложили контракт несколько известных лейблов. В Апреле 2003 года группа заключила контракт с Universal/Republic Records. «Это был большой день» - говорит Кароль, «Мы действительно работали очень тяжело долгое время, чтобы получить этот контракт». После релиза их альбома Element Eighty, который вышел 28 Октября 2003 года, парни отправились в турне с такими группами как Sevendust, Ill Nino, Flaw, 40 Below Summer, Mushroomhead и другими.

Их песня "Broken Promises" была включена в список саундртрэков к игре Need For Speed: Underground. После нескольких месяцев гастролей группа заметила, что лейбл с ними работает неохотно. Не выпускалось никакого видео, никаких перспектив и отсутствие интереса у лейбла поднять группу на уровень выше. Все это привело к разрыву контракта с лейблом в далеком 2004 году. Е80 понимали, что работа с лейблом была лишь временем чтобы закрепится в этом бизнесе, так что они послали своих агентов и менеджеров куда подальше и начали работать сами. Вскоре после разрыва контракта с лейблом их предыдущий басист Рон решил покинуть группу. Но в группу пришел новый басист Зак Бейтс (Zack Bates) и быстро заполнил недостающий элемент в группе. «Прошлые несколько месяцев были действительно трудными для нас», - Говорит Мет, - «Но с приходом Зака все изменилось, он принес в группу свою искру». «Мы знали что он именно тот парень» - говорит Дэвид. Теперь вооруженные новым звуком и материалом, сгруппированные в команду, парни начали работу с Эриком Делегардом, который работал со звуком в E-80. По советам Эрика парни начали работу над альбомом "The Bear". «Мы были очень счастливы записав этот альбом» - говорит Мет. Новое направление в котором мы играем очень нравится нам и мы надеемся что оно понравится и нашим фанам. Группа выпустила их третий и, к сожалению, последний альбом The Bear 5 ноября 2005 под своим собственным лейблом "Texas Cries Records". Отыграв свой последний концерт на новогоднюю ночь в Ridglea, группа распалась. Но уже в 2007-ом заявила о своем возвращении и работе над новым альбомом.

Первый раз об Element Eighty я узнала из игры NFS Undeground, чей саундтрек был на редкость для компьютерных игр (за исключением серии Tony Hawk Pro Skater) альтернативен, я бы даже сказала андеграунден. Всем известно, что там присутствовали такие группы как Rancid, Story Of The Year, Lostprophets и т.д. Песня "Broken Promises" от Element 80 с того сборника практически сразу запала мне в душу. Понравилась песня - надыбала альбом! И что я с этого получила - спросите вы!?! А я вам отвечу, что к моей радости, и вопреки моим предчувствиям, песня "Broken Promises" оказалась практически самой выхолощенной и радийной с альбома, далеко не самой тяжёлой. НИКАКОГО emo, в его традиционном понимании, на альбоме я не услышала, только nu-metal/hardcore, тяжелый и медленный!
Альбом открывает песня "Goodbye" и сразу вставляет, отличное начало для альбома. Тяжело громыхающие гитары под брутальный голос в припеве "Don't Say Goodbye, Say Gooooodbye...". С вокалом у E80 вообще отдельная тема: постоянная смена на протяжении всего альбома и каждой песни. Высокий, довольно лёгкий голос постоянно сменяет низкий брутальный рык и всё это под гитары, которые
