Globalization can be looked at in many different areas. You can look at how globalization affects the economy, politics, culture and even the law because globalization is the integration of economic, political, and cultural systems across the world.

The advances in communication and transportation technology, combined with free market ideology, have upgraded globalization. Many countries want to open world markets for their resources and take advantage of cheep labor markets in poor countries where their economies are not strong. However, even though this has created profits for the investors, it’s created angry labors that feel they have been ripped off.
In politics, National governments have been responsible for maintaining the security and welfare of their citizens, as well as the protection of human rights and the environment. With global changes, and a more diverse global economy, political activity is definitely increasing.

In my opinion, globalization and culture is the most recognized, and could possibly be the most important attribute to globalization. Globalization and culture is a day to day occurrence. When you wake up in the morning and watch television, or even see what’s on the news, it’s most likely happening somewhere else in the world. When you’re on the internet or your computer, and come across ad’s, or chat lines, it usually has something to do with globalization. Globalization is something that always keeps you connected with the world, and world occurrences.

Globalization and culture also has a lot in common with immigration. When people immigrate to different countries they become familiar to the way of life in that country. When people come to Canada or even the United states they become Americanized. Being Americanized means you change your way of life in some cases and become more aware of how life is lived in a different country. This happens a lot here in Canada where people from foreign countries come here all the time. These people also bring different religions, and ethnic backgrounds. This also helps people in Canada to be more aware of different cultures and ways of life.


Globalization isn’t always positive, even though I think in most cases it should be. Globalization can cause countries to loose money and can cause poverty. People in countries such as Mexico, India and Sri lanka for example, have no other means of living besides working in sweat shops. These people make clothes that people in more developed countries wear. Even though there has been debates and protects against this, little progress has been made. Sometimes, it’s the case of working in sweat shops to support their families or not working at all, to receive no income. Countries such as the United States and Canada benefit largely from overseas trading. Because the USA is so powerful and wealthier then most or all countries it has the upper hand on most or all things. Therefore when it comes to trading, the benefits usually vary dramatically with USA and their trading partners, and the same usually goes for Canada as well.

I think globalization is a good thing when it comes to being aware of politics, and news around the world. For example. If I were to want to take a vacation to Iraq, without news, television and the internet I wouldn’t know there was a current war going on.

Neverhtheless, I think globalization can be looked at in many different ways. The subject has many pros and cons, some of which I have stated. In ones opinion globalization can be positive, and negative to another. Globalization is a topic of debates and discussion.
