| The Skinny: | A well-told romance about a woman returning from the grave to visit her husband and her six-year-old son. The film requires the viewer to suspend their disbelief to be sure, but not necessarily in terms of its far-out premise. Even so, Be With You is a terrific little film. | ||

Unlike most traditional romances, Be With You offers up an intriguing, possibly supernatural premise - a deceased love returning from beyond the grave. It may sound like a pitch for a horror movie, but Nobuhiro Doi's masterfully told romance is anything but scary. A box office hit in Japan and elsewhere, Be With You is a rousing crowd pleaser, although not without its fair share of problems. The film revolves around a widower named Takumi (Shido Nakamura) who lives in the country with his six-year-old son Yuji (Akashi Takei). Both are mourning the loss of Mio (Yuko Takeuchi), beloved wife and mother. In the wake of her death, Takumi and Yuji have forged an odd, yet somehow functional relationship; they act almost as if they were abandoned children forced to take care of each other rather than actual father and son. And as if Mio's death wasn't enough, it seems Takumi suffers from a medical condition (Ah, another melodramatic staple!) that affects his motor skills. As a result, Takumi must avoid crowds and live like a veritable recluse. Yuji is disappointed that Takumi can't do the things that most fathers can, but turns out to be amazingly understanding about his father's condition. Besides, Yuji has bigger things to prepare for - like his mother's possible return. |

По РУССКИ: не все сразу понимают сюжет фильма, поэтому я вам сразу расскажу, в чем все дело, так как фильм мне очень понравился, похожий на сказку он заставляет поверить в чудеса. История начинается когда мы видим взрослого Юджи, получающего торт на свое 18 летие, он живет с отцом Такуми в тихой сельской местности. Жена Такуми умерла, когда Юджи был маленьким, но вот удивительно, через год после ее смерти в сезон дождей, они находят женщину в лесу точь-точь как умершая Мио. Она ничего не помнит и не узнает сына и мужа, но потихоньку она привыкает к ним и в семье вновь воцаряет счастье. Однако, после сезона дождей Мио снова должна уйти. Оказывается будучи студенткой и еще не зная выходить ли ей замуж за Такуми Мио попала под машину и пробыла в коме, и пока она была в коме, она побывала в будущем. Очнувшись, она знала, что у нее будет муж и маленький сын, и что она умрет в 25 лет, но потом вернется к ним ненадолго в сезон дождей...вот так грустно, но красиво)
