What happened? Do you mean the Federal Government's Sec. of State?? Or the state of Michigan's??? Are you trying to get a visa or green card or citizenship?? Or perhaps you are already a citizen. Talk to me... let it all out!!

I have a green card--residence card
Actually the system works in such way that at first i get green card for 2 years, than i have to apply for 10-year, but in between there is a year or two years gap when i have expired 2-year green card, which is legal
With all the new laws about restrictions about illegal immigrants getting a driver license, i had to go through 5 different SOS offices all around Plymouth/Canton/Farmington Hills to get them even listen to me and look at things.

Anyways, finally i got my driver license and i will hopefully never have problems with them
but you may want to check out the documents you need to bring for renewing your driver license

I know what you mean! Sometimes it seems they go out of their way to make things difficult!
I recently let my drivers license expire and had to pay the penalty, I think. I had gone to the bank and the teller told me she could not help me because my license had expired. Fortunately, I was able to renew it quickly and took care of my business on time. But it cost me $25.00 which is probably higher than the standard fee. I had thought that the state usually notified us when the DL was about to expire, but they did not, and I forgot... Crazy!
