Advice. I always pass on good advice. It is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself.

Agreeing. When people agree with me. I always feel that I must be wrong.

Belief. I can believe anything as long as it is incredible.

Diaries. I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.

Duty. Duty is what one expects from others, it is not what one does oneself.

Enemies. Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much.

English Language. We have really everything in common with America nowadays except, of course, language.

Experience and Mistakes. Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes.

Fame. There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

Fair play. One should always play fairly when one has the winning cards.

Genius. I have nothing to declare except my genius.

Happiness. When we are happy we are always good, but when we are good we are not always happy.

Men/Women. Women represent the triumph of matter over mind, just as men represent the triumph of mind over morals.

Money. When I was young I used to think that money was the most important thing in life. Now that I am old, I know it is.

Parents and Children. Children begin by loving their parents; after a time they judge them; rarely, if ever, do they forgive them.

Principles. A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.

Selfishness. Other people are quite dreadful. The only possible society is oneself

Stupidity. There is no sin except stupidity.

Temptation. I can resist everything except temptation.

Truth. The truth is rarely pure, and never simple.

Time. Time is a waste of money.
