By the time we went to bed late last night the flames on the ridge had died down a bit.
According to the latest news I could find, the Santa Ana winds have dropped a little, which
helps. Three hundred homes lost up there, and 1000 threatened at last report. With this, and
all the other scattered fires in SoCal, this is the worst fire season ever, but on the up side, so
far, only one reported death. Amazing.
The sky is very brown, the air is heavy with smoke and the air quality warning has been
upped to "don't do anything physical outside today." The beautiful mountains are invisible
behind a sullen beige wall.
