OK, I have a question...which European country is the most favorable for a week long visit in February? I'm hoping for some mild weather...

That depends on what is "mild" for you.
I'd say Spain and Portugal are rather mild, but for some people it's pretty cold.
I'd go with Italy and its southern parts.
Croatia-Montenegro etc. are too boring during winter.
Greece and Turkey should be fun - Istanbul is a perfect place to walk around even if it's February.

I hope this is helpful = )

Ответ на комментарий tooshort2shoot # tooshort2shoot, thank you for your response; I truly appreciate it. Actually my original choices were southern Italy and Spain. And yes, I was looking for the warmest climate during February, to accomodate sightseeing. And from what I've researched regarding southern Italy, it's not that touristy and there's not much too see except Pompei and Sicily. Therefore I'm not sure. Now Spain - I looked up Barcelona and Andalucia.
Which parts would you recommend, putting into account warm weather and lots of sightseeing? And would you choose Spain or Italy? Sorry if I'm driving you crazy with this. :)

oh that's fine, you shouldn't be sorry = )
I think Barcelona and Andalucia are a better choice if you want sightseeing. BUt yes it's chilly and you'd need a hat and a warm jacket to be there.
Southern Italy is absolutely cool and I can't think of any good reason why not to go there. Yes it's not a typical touristy itinerary, but it's so much better! You can repeat the exact itinerary I had this August and trust me you'll love it.
Me and my girls visited Rome, than went down to Ravello-Positano-Amalfi-Sorrento (it's in Campania) and it was AMAZING. The food is great, the itinerary is off the beaten path and the views are awesome.

Now, it really depends on what you want. Barsa and Andalucia are cheaper (food-accommodation-tour guides) and Rome and Amalfi coast are more expensive.

I met this cool Sicilian banker (God knows why I always meet my "colleagues" even when I'm off the country) while I was on Amalfi coast and he told me that Sicily is a cool place, but it doesn't have any good restaurants...so he came to Amalfi just for the good food that he'd been missing. I'm not saying Sicily isn't worth travelling to (I've never been there), but that's what I've heard.
So I'd better go to Sicily during summer time - for the beach and old cities only.

There's also such island like Ischia (Italy). It offers some great spa treatments and is not so crowdy during "cold season".
And don't forget about the Island of Capri - quite an experience, too. An expensive one, of course.

tooshort2shoot, believe me, I have nothing against southern Italy, I've read it's beautiful, it's just that it won't be as exciting in winter time. :) I have never been to Italy or Spain, and I'd love to spend a month in each country to get to see as much as possible in that time period. But the only reason that I'm planning a winter visit there, because that's the only time my sister is getting her vacation, so we thought it would be cool to meet in Europe and explore it together. If it was up to me, I'd probably pick May or September, but we've got to work with what we have. :) Thank you so much for your detailed answer, I'm pretty much salivating right now, imagining how amazing it's there...Traveling is my obsession, and I've been postponing it forever - till I gradate, till I start working and save up some money, and now - I can not find a companion to come with me...Just gotta do it on my own I guess. :) How long did you stay in Italy in August? And where do you live, if you don't mind me asking? And I'm Venera, by the way. :)

CRAZY_VENUS, oh shit! I just realized that it's your blog = )
I mean I don't know why and how I got confused but until now I thought I've been chatting with CHAT TIGRE = ))
oh wow.. sorry about that = )
It probably was a bit strange to get all the comments from an unknown person = ))
I am so sorry for being such an idiot... My name is Anastasia and I live in Samara, Russia and it's so nice to meeting you Venera (even virtually)!!!!!!!!
I guess I just couldn't pass the travelling theme, since I'm a big fan of travelling too!

So where have you decided to go after all?
And yes I totally agree with you - Southern Italy isn't as exciting in winter time as it can be in summer. My girls and I spent like 2 weeks in Italy - so much fun = )

tooshort2shoot, Haha, that's too funny! Well, I'm glad that traveling theme randomly brought you into my blog, since you've shared some valuable information here. I didn't think you were in my friend list, but I remember seeing your comments in my friends' blogs, so I didn't think much of it...and I have to admit, your English is excellent for someone living in Russia!

I think I'm leaning more towards Spain right now, trying to figure out the details...it's sill kinda up in the air. But I'm looking forward to whatever it will be! What can be better than traveling, right? LOL

CRAZY_VENUS, oh thank you! = ) I hope my English will get better since I'm moving to the states in a couple of weeks.

Barcelona (that's where you want to go in Spain, right?) is beautiful - will be waiting for the pics from your trip = )

tooshort2shoot, Great! Where exactly are you moving to? Haven't you already spent some time in the S? Wow, that's exciting!

Yeah, probably Barcelona...can't wait, and hope everything works out.
