Joseph Rudyard Kipling was an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist. Also he wrote tales for children. He was born on 30 December 1865 in Bombay, in British India. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in English in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907, making him the first English language writer who receives this prize. Kipling is best known for his works of fiction The Jungle Book. He worked in the newspaper “Pioneer” and traveled in Asia, Africa and the USA. He died on 18 January 1936 and his ashes were buried in Poets' Corner, part of the South Transept of Westminster Abbey.
