crochet owl super scarf

Size: 8 inch wide x 100 inches long
Materials:
– Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn
Emerald (5 skeins)
Seagreen (2 skeins)
Natural (1 skein)
Glowing Gold (1 skein)
White (1/2 skein) – optional… you can use natural for the owl eyes instead of white.
– Size H crochet hook
– 2 black buttons
– Large tapestry needle

You will make two halves of the scarf and stitch them together.
Owl Super Scarf (make 2):
With natural color yarn
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 14 DC in ring, join to first DC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 ( 28 SC)
Change to seagreen color
Round 3: 2 SC, skip 1 stitch, 2 SC in next, repeat around, join to first SC, chain 1 ( 28 SC)
Round 4: SC in first, chain 2, SC in next, chain 2, SC in next, repeat around, join
Round 5: slip stitch over one so you are working into first chain space, chain 3 (counts as first DC) + 2 DC, chain 1, 3 DC in next chain space, chain 1, 3 DC in next chain space, repeat around, join to top of first DC, fasten off, weave in ends.
With emerald green
Round 6: join to first chain space with a SC, chain 4, skip over 3 DC stitches from previous round and SC in next chain space, chain 4, SC in next chain space, repeat around, join
Round 7: slip stitch over one so you are working in the chain 4 space, chain 3 (counts as first DC) and make 3 DC in chain space, chain 1, 4 DC in next chain space, chain 1, repeat around, join to top of first DC. Do not make any chains.
Round 8: make 6 DC in 3rd DC of each DC set to create a scallop, SC in chain space, 6 DC in 3rd DC, SC in chain space, repeat until you’ve made 10 scallops. Do not fasten off.
Now we are going to work in rows
Row 1: chain 3 (you should be in SC of the chain space), DC in next two stitches, HDC in next, SC in next 10 stitches (skip over the chain spaces), HDC in next, 2 DC in last two stitches and make one more DC in the SC in the chain space, chain 3, turn
Row 2: v-stitch in next stitch (not the same stitch as your chain 3), skip one stitch, v-stitch in next, repeat until you get to the last two stitches. Skip 2nd to last stitch and make a DC in last. You should now have a total of a chain 3 (counts as a dc), 8 v-stitches, and one DC, chain 3, turn
Row 3: v-stitch in all v-stitches from previous row, DC in top of chain 3, chain 3, turn
Repeat row 3 in color pattern until you reach 50 inches.
Color pattern as follows:
2 rows of sea green
1 row of natural
7 rows of emerald
(I repeated this color pattern 5.5 times)
You will want to end after 3 rows of emerald on one scarf, and 4 rows of emerald on the 2nd piece of the scarf so when you stitch it together, the pattern will look seamless. Stitch two pieces together with the mattress stitch.
Eyes (make 2):
With white (or natural) yarn
Magic ring, chain 2, make 12 DC in ring, join to first DC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around.
Fasten off leaving long tail to sew onto owl body.
Attach button eyes before sewing onto owl.
Nose:
With gold yarn
Chain 5, SC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in last two, fasten off leaving long tail to sew onto owl body
