Антикварное серебро.
Серебро – это металл белого цвета, который по гибкости и ковкости превосходит золото, однако антикварное серебро чернеет на воздухе под воздействием сероводорода и фосфора, присутствующих в атмосфере. По этой причине серебреный антиквариат нуждается в особом уходе, а порой уже, чистке, иногда серебро покрывают слоем позолоты.По своему назначению антикварное серебро подразделяются на две основные категории: серебреные антикварные украшения и серебреные антикварные предметы обихода (в основном антикварное столовое серебро). Столовые приборы и утварь из серебра не столько использовались в утилитарных целях, сколько подчёркивали статус и богатство владельца.В отличие от прочих предметов антиквариата, изделия из серебра снабжены клеймом, по которому почти всегда возможно определить время и место изготовления.
