My stories are created by the people around me, in this case, the students. In our university, we have a Russian language course. Knowing that a cultural program was scheduled at the university, I prepared the Russian song "Мы желаем счастья Вам" (We Wish You Happiness) with the students. We rehearsed almost every class, sacrificing study hours. Our classes are in the evening and students often came in sporadically due to holidays, university unplanned events, going home, or exams; in short, our preparations were chaotic.

The day of the event arrived. One of the students called me and said that no one would perform because each had their own responsibilities during the program, and the three strongest performers for the song were absent. To say it was a blow straight to the heart would be an understatement. All our efforts were in vain. I asked if they could read the lyrics from their phone screens if they had trouble remembering certain words. Even after this, they refused. They are young and don't understand that this performance is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, there won't be another chance like this in their lives.

Our management expects creativity from students, especially in a foreign language. This is a complete failure. What can I say? Disaster. I know they will call me in and ask, "Where are the results?" And the result is... emptiness and a pain in my chest.
