Today, I slept until 8:15, and considering I needed to leave my home by 8:30, I had a mere 15 minutes to get ready. Already prepared in black trousers, a pink blouse, a business coat, and my hair neatly styled in an updo secured with a clutch, I went downstairs. Upon entering the kitchen, I found our maid engrossed in preparing Indian curry with rice. The floor was wet, and the maid, with her heavy slippers, unintentionally spread dirt all around the kitchen. Despite my preparedness, I asked if the tea was ready, and upon learning it was not, I attempted to make a cup of black tea for myself. However, I hesitated, noticing the dirty floor. When I commented on it, my maid retorted, "And the whole kitchen is dirty from washing utensils that weren't dirty?" I suggested using a mop to clean the floor, then remembered that it was not within her responsibilities—a mindset prevailing here. Heading to the office, I couldn't shake off the feeling of how lacking people can be in communication and interpersonal skills.
