Different problems surround people during their existence on the Earth. But life is changing constantly and there are more and more difficult situations every century. I want to distinguish one problem from the great amount of situations – problem of relationship between human and animals, his ‘little brothers’ and good friends. It’s a very vital question nowadays. I would like to concentrate on the problem of ‘dog’s life’ cause dog is the closest and the most devoted animal to human creature from amount of pets’ representatives. This law haven’t been changing for thousands years. The dog’s or cat’s or another creature’s possessor always cares for faith and friendship of his pet. But every rule has exceptions… The purpose of my work is to realize these strange relationships between Human and Animal and try to answer the question ‘Why Human is so cruel towards Animal and so why Human doesn’t realize the reason of Animal’s aggression?’ In my essay I used the information from some newspapers and quotations from special books (‘Training warrior dogs’).
Thirteen years ago Russians got acquainted with warrior dog called tosa-inu. Its representatives are distinguished by steady character obtained by training and loyalty to people. Such dogs can hurt people only if they are endangered. All warrior dogs are intended for fighting with dogs-opponents in general. But nowadays they turn to people. There is one but not the only confirmation: dog called Tsahir (tosa-inu) bit to death his eight years old hostess. Before special service arrived he also had had time for biting other people. The inquiry service had a conclusion: neglection and cruel treatment of a pet and as well as co-existence with another warrior dog was the reason of Tsahir’s aggression. The great tragedy was the result. The special dog’s service employees told they had to answer the calls of ill-starred hosts – warrior dog’s possessors every day. Where is the reason of sudden pet’s aggression? It’s a pity but similar situations are very frequent. In 2002 the great amounts of babies were killed by dogs. There were 345 death occasions in Russia. But how many similar cases took place before? What will their amount be if this problem isn’t given enough consideration?
There is a critical situation with stray animals. According to ITAR-TASS information there are no animals that need shelter in Peking. The explanation is demographic situation in China: impossibility of having one more child population tries to compensate for getting hold of a pet. Even the cases of dog’s adoptions take place in the world today, for example, in Netherlands.
But the amount of stray animals is much more in Moscow than for example in Germany or Japan. You can see it if you get to local metro station – the only home for a stray dog where it can find a kind of comfort and warmth. It is strange but in such place as Moscow National Park “Losiny ostrov” where many stray animals have to live on the first impression the amount of them is equal to zero. But what role human plays in this complicated situation? What he does and what he should do?
It’s a pity but not all Muscovites are agitated in helping animals who need shelter. Not a little number of townspeople just sneers at them right up to killing the first met cat or dog, either with collar or without it. The main thing for the assassins is having profit. 50 rubles if it is cat and 100 if dog. People killing animals-tramps don’t think that this money one may spend on dogs’ and cats’ living in municipal though there is problems in these institutions too. Of course it’s easier not to think much of this. But we must admit it exists, it has always existed and will exist till we think of the ways to solve it. There must be a special organization in every big city responsible for stray animals. In UK there is an organization called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This institution finds new homes for 30000 stray animals every year. It’s evidently that the situation is far from being the same in our country.
Sometimes one can speak about very cruel treatment with “vagrants”. For example, a drunk woman slaughtered the stray dog lived on Mendeleevskaya metro station. There is a monument to this dog at the same place now. (See the photograph below). Few years ago the warrior dog’s special trainings under the stands of “Luzhniki” stadium were fashionable among New Russians. As a rule dogs were set on people-tramps whose amount was great enough there. But there weren’t any complaints in Ministry of Home Fairs. So it’s impossible to count how many homeless people and stray animals living the next door to each other were dead. Recently there have been special books for warrior dog’s training on book stalls. They recommended…”begin training using small subjects (mouse, hamsters, cats, stray dogs, etc.). The screeching sucking-pigs are also suitable for this training”. And…”if piece of meat is tied to weak dog’s extremities the warrior dog will start eating meat but then she’ll put an end to stray dog’s life, beginning eating tied leg”.
Our fellow-citizens’ cruelty is boundless sometimes. It is impossible to explain why one Muscovite decided to set his Staffordshire on stray dog’s puppies. His warrior being accompanied by approving calls of her host “…eat my girl eat…” attacked furiously unhappy puppies. The witness – employee of local municipal institution - tried to ring up to militia but Golovkin didn’t stop killing the puppies killed the puppies thrown them to the ground and window lattices. Besides that he frightened the woman employee. The result was his previous conviction (by the way it was the first time during the existence of proper clause in legislation of our country).
Stray animals’ defenders had no doubts that killing our little brothers became usual occurrence. The specialists of Serbsky institute have come to a conclusion that committed the majority of infringers had done the serious crimes killed neighboring cats and dogs in their youth.
Maybe people should realize their attitude to animals. Dog unlike wolf needs host. But if the pets become irritating some hosts can get rid of them easily.
No animal – no problem. Dog either will die or (it’s improbably) survive but become very aggressive and later turn into dangerous for people wild beast (this occasion has already been to “Losiny ostrov”).
Nowadays one can say with confidence that only clever, sociable Koni – our president’s pet – is truly in luck. It means dog’s life doesn’t threaten her because Koni’s host for certainly is able to stand up for her.
But what is the result? ‘Dog bites only because of her dog’s life’. Just this saying we tell very often examining our question. The meaning is that dog’s aggression is the consequence of hosts’ violence. It is also connected with relations in the family where dog lived or if another oppressing animal would exist in the flat (according to Tsahir’s case). So we can say confidently that animals especially dogs become such an aggressive beasts only because of our, human’s neglecting attitude to them and very cruel treatment of them. We are the reason of their behavior and when they begin dashing us we answer them killing. How many people were bit to death by Tsahir and other dogs? What a terrible revenge could do the mother of killed puppies?
