We decided to take the skytrain to Siam Paragon and it is so conveniant! After a short 2-3 min ride, we hopped off and
the shopping mall is connected to the station. Heres a pic looking down on Sukhumvit Rd from the station.
[показать]
Siam Paragon seemed to sell more luxury and high end things and today it was quite empty. I'm not sure if it was the time
of the day and everyone was working or what.
[показать]
Another level of Paragon.
[показать]
Many little shops with interesting features are around the place.
[показать]
Everywhere in East/S.E Asia (esp HK, Japan, etc...) you go are always delicious bakery items!!
[показать]
Soon after a leisurely stroll around the Paragon complex, we headed to the first proper sights.
[показать]
The skyline of Bangkok passing by
[показать]
Random street on the way. Anyone know where this is?
[показать]
I think this is the main train station. Again, passing it on the way to our sight.
[показать]
We went first to Wat Traimit, located near Chinatown. I didn't know much about this place but I learnt that the gold
statue located inside was actually accidentally discovered to be gold when they dropped it and the concrete casing
smashed and revealed the inner gold! Incredible!
[показать]
The following few photos are of the same temple.
[показать]
[показать]
[показать]
[показать]
I think the temple is built fairly recently (like 50yrs ago). More information is on the Wikipedia page
[показать]
[показать]
[показать]
Leaving Wat Traimit, we went through the busy and chaotic streets of the Chinatown area. Unfortunately, we didn't get a
chance to walk around here.
[показать]
Very crowded, people and traffic. Oh and by the way, before coming here, we were constantly reminded of how bad the traffic was!
[показать]
More of Chinatown. From what it looks like from the car window, it looks sort of Hong Kong style streets there (crowded, neon
signs, shop fronts etc). I'm not sure as we didn't walk around there though.
[показать]
On the way to Wat Pho! This area sort of is like a brother to the Forbidden City in Beijing in a way as the palaces and temples
are in this one old city area, and it is surrounded by a large wall (in this case, white).
[показать]
Can you spot it??
[показать]
Our next stop - Wat Pho. This is one of the most famous attractions in Bangkok and is located in the old city very
close to the Grand Palace. We went in the afternoon and it was much cooler and quieter but still, the sky wasn't the best.
[показать]
I was very surprised there as those 'prangs' are huge! They loom over you and are very grand. I love grand buildings and monuments...
[показать]
More of those prangs
[показать]
Beautiful roofs and colours
[показать]
[показать]
[показать]
A tourist sign
[показать]
Leaving Wat Pho, we drove around the old part of Bangkok
[показать]
There are pictures and monuments of the king and the royal family everywhere in Bangkok!!
[показать]
Passing the Giant Swing i always hear about
[показать]
Anothe beautiful temple in the old city. The old city is dotted with temples and other attractions and we only got to see the main ones.
[показать]
Still in the old town area I think as there aren't any skyscrapers to be seen
[показать]
Many of the walls surrounding the many temples
[показать]
More government looking buildings in the old town
[показать]
Royal family portraits still everywhere!
[показать]
Another temple
[показать]
Not sure where this is

[показать]
Another random street in Bangkok
[показать]
Driving just under the tallest skyscraper here.
[показать]
Just ahead (probably can't tell), is this rail track that crosses, and when the train comes, a massive blockage fence
thing is set up and when the train passes, it is taken away for the cars to pass
[показать]
Very green area of Bangkok. Also have no idea where this is either. There are a lot of these old wooden stilt house
looking thigs. anyone know what these are and where this is?
[показать]
Closer look at them
[показать]
This is near by the previous two photos.
[показать]
Back to the very urban Sukhumvit Rd!!

KRISPY KREMES!!!! I've never had these before and I've heard alot about them and upon spotting one in Bangkok, I
had to try it and they are amazing!
[показать]
Outside Siam Paragon. You can see the Siam station skytrain to the right. On the bottom floor is the Siam Ocean World
which is a large marine aquarium zoo thing (I think largest in S.E.Asia) and lots of exhibits. Pretty interesting!
[показать]
Near Siam Paragon - not sure what I'm looking at here

Near the river area where I remember there was stalls selling smelly dried seafood!
[показать]
Next stop, Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun)!! It's like a 2 minute ride across the river.

At Siam Square station looking south (I think). Below is a empty/construction area. We were heading towards the MBK Centre
[показать]
After a whole day of walking around, we exited and looking down from the walkway looks like
[показать]

[показать]
Coming back to our hotel, we saw a film crew and a 'host' filming what I think seemed like a travel show! Anyone know who/what this is? Really interested!
[показать]
At one of the Skytrain stations - the typical wall embedded ticket machines
[показать]
Looking below/out of one of the skytrain stations along Sukhumvit Rd

We arrived at Chit Lom station to just walk around. We ended up just walking along the skywalk looking around. Many luxury and high end hotels are located here.
