1968 - закончил обучение игре на мандолине и скрипке и создал свою группу "Oscar Benton Blues Band"
1968 - в этом же году был выпущен первый альбом "Feel So Good"
1974 - Оскар Бентон уходит из группы и совместно с певицей Monica Verschoor выпускает несколько коммерчески ориентированных синглов.
1981 - настоящий прорыв для сольной карьеры Оскара после того, как Алэн Делон использовал песню Оскара - блюз сердечной боли и печали "Bensonhurst Blues" - в фильме "За шкуру полицейского".
