Интервью на английском.Простите,что не успела перевести...В целом,думаю,все понятно.Интервью было сделано ещё в летнем WT 2008.Постараюсь на выходных заняться переводом)
Gina: What gave you guys the idea to name your album Fast Times at Barrington High?
Carden: I guess it’s the growth of the band in the past 5 years. William and Adam went to school in Barrington and I went to a school across town. I guess it’s just the growth of the last five years and if you put it all down, if you funnel all the tunes, down to one line that kind of made sense for all our problems and issues that will be talked about on this record dealt from that time. It’s like a journey of all that.
Gina: What should the fans expect from this album? I heard about this album having more a pop sound. What could you tell the fans anticipating this album right now?
Carden: Well, I think they are going to enjoy it. The songs that have been out, the two or three that have been on the internet are getting really positive reviews. I feel really good about it. The songs we have been playing live, you feel the energy, and you feel the love. So right now I feel really good about it, I feel good about the whole thing. As far as the sound, the band always develops. When we were touring on Santi, our last tour was Sleeping with Giants; it was a good vibe in the band at that point. William and I started to write a lot more. I think it has a more positive tinge to it. I feel like Santi dealt with darker things. Right now we are in a better spot in our lives. So there for, you know, we didn’t just sit down and say we’re happier now. The songs just decided to come out and they came out more positive. I think this is where the pop- sound is coming from. I would say it is a more positive sound.
Gina: Do you want to continue making more pop-sounding albums in the future? Or do you want to keep revolving and changing the sound?
Carden: I think it always changes. As artists you don’t want to repeat yourself. It’s not like you want to sit down and make a totally different record. It’s more of a thing like you don’t want to do the same thing every night. You want to do something different once in a while. So when you’re writing the songs, once you set up maybe the first 3, 4 or 5 songs it kind of sets the tone of the record. Then you don’t even know, the sound takes you over, than you suppose to being to contrive at thinking at you going this and that and that. We’re fans of a lot of the music that influenced us on this record, so it’s all natural, it all makes sense..
Gina: You guys just got back from L.A. shooting your new video “About a Girl”. Can you give me a concept of the video and when it will be released?
Carden: I hope soon. It’s a play on when we were doing the record there were a lot of 80’s movies going on. Breakfast club, Sixteen Candles, you know like Ferris Bueller. We’re trying to get in the mindset; we love a lot of those movies. Even the recent ones like Super Bad, or whatever it is. We are trying to include some of that too. We have also been doing TAI TV now for three years, so you know some of those influences get put in the video. So I think it would be more like a bigger budget TAI TV, if you can put it in that way. We actually much rather do it that way than have a director come in and saying “This is what your band is going to look like” all of a sudden. If this makes sense, we just have a lot more control in this video.
Gina: You guys are coming back in the fall with a U.S. tour. Do you guys have a different mindset for this tour, and do you even have a name for the tour yet?
Carden: We don’t have a name for the tour yet. That is a good question. You know I keep getting drilled on that! We need to all sit down and talk about that, which is what we need to do. As far as the mindset, we would play the new record. You know as a band we want to play the new stuff because it’s fresher, it’s new and it’s fun. And I love Almost Here, but it’s been like I have been playing those songs for so long it’s like it’s nice you know. I might think about changing the set list everyday and kind of throwing in some songs. You know a lot of people at the meet and greets want to hear those songs that are a bit more buried in those records. A lot of their favorites are like Down and Out or Seed and we would like to do a little bit more of that on this tour. When we would play either Checkmarks or Neighbors, we would play some of the deeper cuts, sort of say.
Gina: Thank you!
