Siena is placed in Toscana region not far from Rome. It is one of classical Italian cities - very ancient and extraordinary with their own tradions. For example, every year they organize horserace but this is not usual horserace they ride horses without saddles. In that competition every district (contrada) is presented by one rider who tries to win in race. Victory is the main goal for every contrada.
Everybody walks through the city could see flags on the houses. This flags speak about contrada's borders. There is 17 contradas in Siena.

The most beatiful place in Siena is Cathedral (Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta or Duomo di Siena). It is builded from bright white marble and has magnificent frontage.

Streets in Siena is very narrow and steep because it is placed on the top of hills.

There is a few squares in central part of Siena but this squares very little because lack of place in the city. Only one square is big and it is main square near the house of local government but it will be in next message :).
