I thought it was a very good film, well made, good script and good performances all round.Ledger was excellent and genuinely chilling at times, certainly showed Nicholson how to do it as well (Shining so good) . Unfortunately Nolan still doesn't know how to shoot an action scene, especially the fist fights. They seem almost wilfully unintelligible. I only knew Batman was fighting a dog in one scene because I could hear barks on the soundtrack, all I could see was swirling black images with a cut every half second. I hope he leaves those bits to the second unit in the next one.The wasting of Two Face has been covered enough on here so I won't go into any further. I think thats what stopped it being a truly great film for me, cramming the whole of Two Face's arc into the last act is what I'd expect from the Schumacher Batman films, not Nolan's.I think this film also showed how Batman is actually quite a boring character, he's always been my least favourite of the more popular comic heroes. He gets barely any development in this film and I'm struggling to remember much of what he did. I suppose a Billionaire with Father issues is never going to be as relateable as someone like Spider-Man.Ledger was outstanding and just walked away with the film. His tic's and mannerisms were brilliant and he really brought the Joker to life. I thought it was good to see a comic book character fully formed, instead of going through another terminable origin story. I imagine his differing stories about he got his scars was a little nod to the audience about that. I hope I'll see continuation
