Madeira 2017 (4k)



We spent the 2016 New Years Eve at Madeira. The island is not large (it's only about the size of a big city), but the terrain is very undulating: it's hard to find a flat ground or a street that is not steep. We had only one week, and the weather was far from perfect, but we still experienced a lot: hikes in the mountains and on the rocky coasts, volcano museum, lava caves and pools, tobogan on the Monte, botanical gardens, and last but not least, the great NYE Fireworks of Funchal. All spectacular, and very diverse. Must go back someday.

Остров вечной весны, остров цветов — самые распространенные эпитеты Мадейры (Madeira), этой утопающей в зелени вершины подводного вулкана размерами примерно 55 км на 20 км, лежащей в 600 км от африканского побережья.

Роскошные пейзажи, обилие цветов и растений, многие их которых являются эндемиками, манят сюда путешественников со всего света. Во многом этому способствует климат острова — Гольфстрим обеспечивает ему довольно равномерную температуру воды круглый год.

На острове можно увидеть высокие пики, пещеры, водопады, величественные горы и очаровательные селения, затерянные в узких долинах с белоснежными домиками. Мадейра - это настоящий рай для любителей природы. Имеется огромное количество походов любой степени сложности. До многих достопримечательностей можно легко добраться прямо из столицы острова - Фунщал.

Туризм на Мадейре в последнее время развивается довольно быстро и найти подходящий тур на Мадейру не составит большого труда.

Cabo Girão is a lofty sea cliff located along the southern coast of the island of Madeira, in the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira. Cabo Girão is a popular lookout point, especially after a glass-floored viewing platform was installed in October 2012.
