Each cut runs deeper
Longer than the last
Every scar a reminder
Of a painful, haunting past
An upraised pink path
To mark out my journey
When my destination is reached
I'll lie dead on a gurnie
The lines overlap
Across my bare thighs
Crimson flow from my wrist
And tears from my eyes
My chest is split open
A spewing, empty cavity
My heart mutilated
And trampled quite avidly
If you look really close
The scars spell out the name
Of a lover that left
Before she ever came
Some days she walks by
Nothing but salt in my wound
Then she's gone, like a ghost
Who deserted her tomb
I won't soon stop hurting
I've reaped what was sown
I'm left here forgotten
But for a razor, alone
A telephone ringing
A newly pierced vein
Her voice in the background
Flooded with pain
She rushes to hold me
But she's already too late
She can't save me
This death was my fate
