The time approaches, my friends, a moment we both embrace and fear: a farewell to Harry Potter. Wednesday's film is but a $150 million-plus appetizer to the end of a saga, despite petitions pleading otherwise, on July 21—nine days before Harry's (and author JK Rowling's) birthday.

In these conflicted times, how can we possibly express our affections? Well, at least we can measure them: Nielsen calculated the Harry Potter effect, which thus far includes nearly 27.7 million books sold in the US, box office billions, and nearly $12 million in Potter snacks.

The Buzz has also witnessed the degree of Potter passions, whether it be stirred up by a single kiss, anticipation for the summer blockbuster, hysteria for a tangible world of wizardry, or a craving for fan fiction...year after year after year.

Daniel Radcliffe, most beloved by the searchers in our nation's capitol, even joined the Search ranks of bare-chested idols, albeit from his moonlighting gig.

In this most Potterly of Months, true fans have been reading up on their books, digging for spoilers, playing the games, brushing up on their lexicon, and dressing the part.

Admittedly, "The Transformers" have wrested control of the summer movie Buzz thus far, with more than double the searches of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." We attribute that to mostly boys with their toys—the females remain faithful in monitoring Harry's cinematic return. As for the whereabouts of Potter faithful, the film's aficionados reside in El Paso, Milwaukee, and Cleveland, while straightforward "harry potter" followers hail from Salt Lake City, Waco, and—once more—El Paso.
