Imagine spending twelve hours in a butcher’s freezer and that’s pretty muchttp://www.liveinternet.ru/journal_post.php?journalid=3122827h how I would sum up the waiting experience in the Square today. Friends camped out overnight (some of days) but come eight in the morning, only a handful of fans were in the queue. I joined in Monday night for my spot but went home after 11pm as it was bitterly cold and my nice warm base is only a few minutes walk away. Anyway, I was number three so a good spot was for sure. Odeon and Empire cinemas held the event which meant the garden was beautifully done out. It is the last time till May 2012 because the garden is being re-vamped to create more useable space. We were let into the gardens before 2pm and the snow kept on coming. It was a traditional red carpet (covered in white snow for much of the afternoon). Giant screens relayed interviews and happenings to all who wanted to see. I nearly went home mid afternoon but was so glad I stayed as it was a really great premiere. I enjoyed capturing the event despite the real snow and the fake snow (strange but true) covering my lens and the struggle to keep wiped clean. Stars were happy to sign and pose. Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Phillip were guests of honour and once they arrived it was all over and home to the warm for this reporter. A brilliant, magical event before Leicester Square’s garden shuts for renovation.
