Blood vessels
Purpose: to examine all blood vessels in the pig’s body and to locate them.
Observations:
1) Put on your goggles, rob and gloves.
2) Take your pig out of the bag .
3) Carefully remove all organs inside pig beside lungs, liver.
4) Observe veins in the anterior region (locate the veins and draw them on the blank piece of paper)
5) Observe veins in the posterior region.
6) After you finished work with veins, observe arteries in anterior region.
7) Observe arteries in posterior region.
8) After al work is done, put your pig in the bag, clean all the instruments and put everything away.
Procedure:
I began my work in the anterior region. I located Anterior Vena Cava, it’s a trunk of the systemic vein above the heart.
I observed a vein, rising from the diaphragm and enters the heart at the right atrium together with the anterior vena cava, I concluded this to be Posterior Vena cava.
Anterior vena cava divides into “V” shaped veins, I concluded them to be Brachiocephalic veins.
Veins that joined to form the brachiocephalic vein, these two veins are the external jugular vein (near the head and neck) and internal jugular vein (brain and spinal cord).
The vein that is continued of the axillary vein in the shoulders areas is the Subclavian vein.
On the ventral surface of the anterior vena cava I found Sternal Vein.
The vein that drains the shoulder region and arises from the scapula is Subscalpular.
I observed the vein that lies upon the lateral surface of the foreleg and I concluded this is to be Cephalic.
