Premiere at the Granby Theater voluntary closed down and was suddenly put up for sale or lease Wednesday night after fire officials cited the management for numerous code violations.
The future of the club is unclear, owners said Thursday morning, when, for a short time, the sign was removed from the marquee.
At a Thursday news conference, Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim announced the city has terminated the theater’s special exception, meaning no alcohol can be served and no entertainment can be provided until management re-applies for the permit.
That process could take up to two months, according to the city attorney.

Police investigate a shooting inside a Granby Street club.
The moves comes in the aftermath of Wednesday's shooting inside the club, causing chaos for the approximately 400 patrons inside.
Norfolk fire officials, responding to complaints about overcrowding and exit problems, found 19 violations during a spot inspection Wednesday afternoon, to the owner of the theater voluntarily shut down the club indefinitely.
