Breaking Benjamin formed in 1999 under the moniker "Plan 9." The band quickly gathered a local following before changing their name to "Breaking Benjamin" in late 2000. In 2002, they signed with Hollywood Records, where they released their major-label debut, Saturate. Their first single, "Polyamorous", received a fair amount radio play.

Breaking Benjamin released their second album, We Are Not Alone, on June 29, 2004, which featured the leadoff single "So Cold". The band had two music videos made for the song, one of which was a promotional video made for the movie Hellboy.

The band released their third album, Phobia, on August 8, 2006. The first single, "The Diary of Jane" was released on May 22, 2006 and later was released on the radio June 6, 2006.

What happens when two of the biggest hardcore metal acts in the area decide to merge together as one power and move forward? Well in the case of Buffalo, New York metal act STEMM, the past year has been one hell of a ride.

The band did their 1st show ever with Sevendust, toured with Chimaira, performed independent showcases from coast to coast, (including the legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go), earned a Jagermeister endorsement, wrote the theme song for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, had Mark Hunter of Chimaira guest vocal on their demo which sold over 1000 independent CDs in 2 months. If you think that is not intense, the lead singer also survived the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Drive and the determination to succeed is the force behind STEMM; generating an immense following throughout the world, and the attention of the industry, as they develop including:

*The only unsigned band on a nationally released Nitrus Records / NoName Worldwide compilation CD, “UFC Ultimate Beatdowns Volume 1” also featuring Slayer, Damage Plan, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, and many more cutting edge metal acts.

*Winner of the Buffalo Music Award for Best Hardcore/Metal act in WNY for 3 consecutive years, [2001, 2002, & 2003].
