Сегодня в интернете я обнаружила, что с 17го октября в австралийских кинотеатрах начали показывать русский фильм - "Дневной дозор"

It's too long by at least 30 minutes - the second act seems designed to let people go off to the loo or stock up on popcorn - but it's fun, visually snappy and almost impossible to follow.

lol. It does suck that they arent showing it here...but to say "Does this have something to do with the elections?" lol thats just plain stupid. I dislike Howard as much as the next person but not every little thing that happens is because of the election that just plain ignorant. It is really a mystery as to why they arnt showing this at more places. Even if it was only on a coupple of times a day. I personally am very disappointed in GU
Comment: I walked out of this film exhausted but still pumped by its energy. What an amazing visual ride, and clever script. I only wish I could speak Russian to get a better appreciation of the nuances. Partnered with Night Watch, these are some of the greatest films I have ever seen.
Comment: After the wonderful NightWatch, i read the book, & fell even further in love with this world. They had changed the story quite a bit - to make it more suitable to film? Doubted they thought it would be so popular & go on to become a trilogy?
To make the 2nd film work they had to make more changes to the story. Now we are in a situation where a main character in the 3rd book (TwilightWatch) was KILLED in the 2nd film.
I think they've missed the point of these beautiful books.
Comment: I'm such a grumpy pants - I didn't even talk about the film...
It's better than most stuff that makes it to our screens but I was still very disappointed. My own high hopes let m down.
Pluses...the effects were awesome, it's fun, i love the Russian accents.
Minuses... too long, lacking in heart.
I heard that the next film will be made in English. EEEEK!
Comment: Viewed in isolation, the film's not too bad - but when compared to Sergei Lukyanenko's excellent book upon which it's based the film's plot fades into bland, populist simplicity.
If you liked this film, or its predecessor 'Night Watch', then please go out and read the two books (plus the recently translated 'Twilight Watch'), to see how much plot and how many ideas the films ignored, changed or completely missed!

It wasn't too hard to follow.
By the sounds of things it pays not to read the book first. But I will once I see the final movie.
Comment: I hadn't watched the first film but the second was very enjoyable. At times the plot escaped me although i guess watching the first and third would clear things up. Very fun.
